Tiny:
not really, headcrabs can lunge toward you very quickly and self detonate.

Carp:
simple solution make it so they hurt you when they stand next to you, but they can't self detonate only detonate when killed.

Not implying that this is a good idea just putting in my 2 cents on how it could be a good idea.
