Machin's formula is well-known as one of the best ways to compute pi because of its simplicity (compared to other formulas) and the rate at which it converges (how much each computation (individual summation) increases the accuracy of the value.) It is simply expressed as 16*atan(1/5) - 4*atan(1/239)
