New To hammer and Need help

So im new to hammer and currently working on a map and need help.

1. Just about every Texture/item i have is Checkers
2.I dont get how to carve like a cave or something in a wall.. i know their is a carve option but i dont know how to work it
3.i put a health generator (becuase im making a ZS Map) but it comes out as Error and i dont know how to allign it with the wall...

Any help would be appretiated (lol) :))
