Personally I prefer the 880's since they're more neutral. 770's are too bass rich for me.

I may have gotten the 880's but I got a sweet deal on the 770's for $150 and the 880's were nearly $250 at the time.

I prefer the richer bass and treble since IMO it creates a more immersive, rich, full sound which is really good for movies and single player games. The 880 for me at least would be better for competitive gaming or non bass heavy music because of the better soundstage. Though the DT-770 have very good soundstage for being closed.

Just personal opinion
