.MOV converter

Alkaline:
Does anyone here know a program that can convert .MOV files to a more compressed format with little loss? If not, does anyone know a magic project settings for Sony Vegas 8 so I can render the .mov to a compressed format.

export using x264 using different quality settings to see what you get (probably using mp4 container)
