WiiU finally gets price drop(shocking) and Nintendo 2ds...?

(1/2) > >>

HideoKojima:
I believe not even like a month ago Nintendo said they didn't plan on doing a price drop.
But they said the same thing with the 3DS awhile back.

Free game and 50$ off. So is a pretty good deal. Still not cheap enough for me though.

So the 2ds was also announced for $129.99 on October 12th (the same day as Pokemon X and Y). It's the 3DS but it doesn't have 3D on it.
It's also fucking huge looking. (Looks like 2 gameboys next to each other)

(Yep it can't close like every DS before it. It also only does mono sound, unless headset is plugged in.)

Regular 3DS still available for $169.99 and 3DS XL $199.99.

Honestly made the thread mostly to talk about the 2DS. It's weird. Like Nintendo is cutting into it's own market with the 2DS. Most people don't/don't use like the 3D. Maybe they made it flat so the screen would get messed up easier so they can broken and replaced faster? Or so it wouldn't appeal to older people? Just seems like a weird business move to me.

Hmm, then only thing I can think of is that it is much cheaper to build this so that they can recover some profits maybe?

No hinge, flat console makes QA simpler and stress tests easier and also more linear space for chips which means they could use cheaper/larger chip configurations as well.

In combination for no 3d... and only 40$ less than regular 3ds... it seems that they would make quite a profit off this if it sold, but that's just my guess.

Very unattractive for me though, two exposed screens :( Unless I buy their cd case for it lol

Now introducing the Nintendo 2DS

It can play 3DS games, but without the 3D, and is about $40 cheaper and not as easy to carry around.

Was this a good idea or not? In my opinion I think it is yet another money ploy; I mean honestly, I know what they were trying to do, they were trying to make it so that people could play 3DS games but not have to spend a shit ton for a 3DS. I don't see why they would do that though... not only is the 3DS perfectly capable of playing in 2D, but also gives you the "option" to play in in 3D if you want, and is not fucking huge, making it a lot easier to carry around. It cost more yeah, but people don't feel like they are getting ripped off for what they are paying for. You buy this 2DS, you're paying for a big system to play 3D games you can't actually view in 3D.

Loke:
It doesn't even look good.

Bomb Squad:
Remember that the target demographic of the Nintendo 2DS is ages 0 - 6, it's supposed to be appealing to young children, and also so they don't destroy the hinge on the 3DS.
