So my brother and I are getting the new Final Fantasy XIV, and he needs a better computer to run the game on. I told him I am not terrible with computers, but honestly I am not that amazing, so I was wondering if maybe you guys could help me since he needs a recommendation. He needs a computer basically to run one game, that's it, just one game. He used to play a lot of video games but he's much busier now so he doesn't have the time. He was looking at a bunch of custom built ones, but honestly if he's only using it for one thing, I don't thing he needs to go all out on it, I think a pre-made would be fine. Something reasonable but not shitty, and preferably a Dell.

These are the ones he showed me that he was "considering"(I guess he's preferring a laptop):

He's also wondering whether or not he should upgrade them to Windows 8 or stick with Windows 7.

Thanks for your help!

The first link you posted: http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&cs=19&fb=1&l=en&model_id=inspiron-15r-se-7520&oc=dncwm12s7&s=dhs&vw=icon

Should do him mighty fine for that game and pretty much any other game possible

(the performance is also higher than the GT630m version with a lower processor..)

HideoKojima:
Should be a good sister and make it for him! A grand could get him a pretty good computer if custom made.

Also lol at Win8 being cheaper. (No opinion on it since I never upgraded.)

Judging by the requirements and the parts on that one,it should be enough to play the game smoothly

that $1K price to play a single game though...

Viole:
For $1k, you can get better laptops than those, but the best one wouldn't be a Dell.

That's the best Dell I've seen at a good price/performance ratio. Better GPU and larger size.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)If you didn't go with Dell, Sager/Clevo laptops would be a better deal.

Better CPU, GPU, larger size, and a lot of customization.
There's a smaller version available at 15.6"

Spoiler (click to show/hide)There's also a cheaper choice of getting the Lenovo Ideapad.

Better CPU, GPU,and different sizes.
Windows 7 is good, but for a new computer, Windows 8 would be faster.
