Its better if there is a sort of stiff cushion under card stock than just plain paper on wood. Soft mouse pad, but not a spongy annoying piece of shit, without the strangeness of a hard pad. Best mouse pad ever, no exceptions.
I foolishly bought the Razer Megasoma. A real piece of shit for build quality, and the coating liquefied into glue a week later... but it makes an awesome pad for a piece of card stock :3

I literally have the same mouse, and someone's the same problem since I have a wooden desk. It's more because there is this little crevice in my desk which sometimes makes it not respond, but for me it isn't really that bad.
