So I've noticed this with DarkRP

Spoiler (click to show/hide)I know this stuff started quiet a while ago, but holy hell, every DarkRP server I join, the tools are always restricted to Donators/Admins. Almost every, god damn semi-productive tool, you cannot use without "hey guise plz donate $20 first". Special tools and easily mingeable tools I can understand, but a tool like Axis? Apart from all the other shit DarkRP has permanently burned onto its name, the potential to do something actually creative and fun in DarkRP is really narrowed down now that servers have adopted this custom. It gets even more boring/narrowed down when the big gmod community servers come into play (everyone donates for admin nowadays). I find it just complete crap that sever owners keep pushing these stupid initiatives on a server they can't support themselves, but rather rely on donations for (which isn't such a good idea in the first place). Those have been the downfall of so many actually fun gmod servers and the owners usually blame the community for not enough donations.

This is the EXACT reason why I despise DarkRP, "Donate for admin!" "Donate $5 to get a free hat to use exclusively on DarkRP!" "Donate $100 to help me get a new computer!" And I swear to fuck I am not joking about this, I actually saw this quote on a server I joined a while back in Gmod 12: "Donate $1000 to meet the owner in real life!"
Are you that desperate for money? Really, I know it's rough for 'Merica and some other countries, but relying on other peoples money for selfish desires? Pisses me off.

If they were desperate for money in the first place, why would they bother spending $25 a month on a gmod server instead of straightening out their life priorities?

I always felt our server could do DarkRP better. Unfortunately, the gamemode has too many exploits, and isn't really being considered. DarkRP draws so many people (maybe not always the best people, but people none the less) and I always found it to be very fun. I can only imagine how we'd make it work, especially without all the donation bullshit.
