The great kickstarter scam. (Also What's your opinion on crowd funding?)

It seems the project is indeed going to stay up.

Actually one game literally was complete and just needed a couple small fixes, the money was going to "market" the game.

Well that would be an example of a bad project that you shouldn't support. But there are good projects that pose a new, interesting idea, but dont have enough funding.

Xrain:
You can be scammed in just about anything.

Kickstarter and the like have done some to reduce the avenues that you can be scammed in. But in the end you are basically making an investment into a company.
If that investment is good (Star Citizen), or bad (someone just trying to get money) is wholly up to you, just like it is on the regular market.

Personally I like the crowd funding idea, it gives people an easy avenue to get funding for their projects. But just like everything else in life, you have to beware, if it sounds too good to be true, it generally is, and your money will just go down a hole.

Writing the whole thing off just because of a few bad projects is kinda like my hometown banning jet-skis just because there was 1 fellow who drove around and acted like an ass.

Ugh, well yeah, there are the stupid scams like that. I'd especially like to point out the "universe project", all there is atm, is 1 or 2 screenshots and like 30 seconds of footage. So it's kinda stupid they want to immediately ask for funding rather than putting out an early portion of the game as a demo to show what the game can do (I know imma get shitstorm'd for this, but paying for an alpha like arma 3 is kinda stupid, especially when they only have the alpha "lite" that really doesn't show much of the game).

It's almost like game devs don't go through the effort anymore of wanting to impress their playerbases with demonstration of new features and new gaming revolutions, just to establish faith. All it is, "lol no money for us to start? lol no game4u".

I completely agree with the Alpha thing. Buyable Alpha games are pretty much "Just trust us and hope this game doesn't suck."  I dislike Notch but hell, least he made a kinda demo for Minecraft.(Though no clue if the demo thing was there during the Alpha)

They really should put out a demo/some kind of time trail thing other than the Alpha Lites, instead of pretty much telling people to trust them.
