Laptop-Windows 7 failure

So I kind of recently "fixed" my mom's laptop but now when it reaches the boot stage of Windows 7, it automatically goes to "Windows is preparing files" or something like that with a loading bar and then a screen pops up starting recovery/diagnostic tools. It says it can't find the problem and then I go into an endless reboot. Safe mode doesn't work and neither does chkdsk. Any suggestions before I have to wipe the hard drive and reformat?

Use a linux boot disk with a windows virus scanner on it to scan the computer (kasperky rescue disk work well)

If that still doesn't work:

Use a linux boot disk like parted magic to open up the hard drive and save all the important files.

Then just reformat and reinstall windows. Then use then just copy your saved files back onto the computer.

Already got important files off the hard drive by linking it with my desktop computer via SATA.

I tried Trinity boot disk but I don't get how it works nor what's the exact problem.

I just want to save the hard drive without the hassle of reformatting since I still need to find out the product key cause my mom ordered a student deal online and lost the email with the key.

That being said, is there any way to find out what's the product key of Windows 7 without having to boot it up?
