New build problem

I have a problem with my new PC build and what happens is I turn it on and it gives no signal to the monitor, and I can't shut it down without flipping the PSU switch.

Did you troubleshoot the video card? Usually the if video card doesn't work there won't be any display on the monitor.
Unless you plugged the monitor in wrong.

The video card is fine.
The mobo is an ASUS M5A97 R2.0 motherboard
RAM: Corsair HyperX blu 4 gigabyte RAM | or Mushkin enhanced 8 gig (2x4gb) RAM - all DDR3
Video card: ASUS EAH 6850
And yeah. Halp

Okay, so I am going to try to flash the BIOS uusing Flashback because I have just realised I need to update the BIOS because it doesn't support my CPU without an update.
Detailed step-by-step please.
