It doesn't matter who started it,you should have kindly told him that Juan didin't need 32 gigs of RAM and if he still responded rudely, just ignore him.
But clearly since he himself said he will be doing some editing,it wouldn't hurt for some extra RAM.
As for saivon,i think you should be abit more respectful towards other people. This is a community, not a flaming zone.
Samo:
I don't even think his board will be able to support 32GB of RAM... Go for 8, preferably from Corsair. You can easily get more if you feel that it's not as you wanted.
Then there's storage. Look at WD or Seagate. Both are quite reliable. If you're going for 1TB I suggest a 7200 RPM HDD.
As for the optional Blu Ray drive, I'm about to get one myself. I'm looking toward the LiteOn iHBS212. Well, that's what I can get in Australia. I'm sure you can find something better than that.

Something like this could work not including OS http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vA8E
Without it, I would go with an APU http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vAal
ursus:
- you will never need more than 8gb of ram
- you will never need more than 2tb of storage, ever
- buy AMD's most expensive cpu and enjoy being the god of multi-tasking for less than $250
- buy as good of a GPU as you can get with the money left over
