Gaming Socially?
McDreary The Hapless Hamster:
While talking to my dad today he was saying that the social interaction between people over video games isn't what it used to. He then told me how 9ish years ago on games like Unreal Tournament you really got to know the people you played with. like when his UT buddies would ask how I was doing when I was in the hospital, or how he would talk to a girl he met on a game for hours keeping her company (she was dying from cancer.) And now on games you just don't make friends anymore. Like Guild Wars 2 where often someone you quest with and talk to for a few hours just ends up being another stranger on a friendlist. I think it just depends on what you play. Having played more games than my dad and seeing awesome communities in games like Minecraft and Gmod. So do you guys think social interaction is dying in gaming? or is it just the games you play? or any other thoughts? please tell. thanks :)

I still believe it is a huge social platform, it just depends how much you and the other party are willing to invest in it.
How much you really invest or value online relationships mentally sets the bar for the potential relationships to come.

I think it all depends on the people you're playing with and maybe the type of game.
I've met many people here on GMod in this Community itself and in Killing Floor and in some other games,so I wouldn't say socialism is outright dying in-game.
Samo:
It all depends on what game you are playing. Once you've become friends with someone through the game you have to use some sort of constant chat so you can talk about things other than the game. Hey, look at us guys. We've done it well.
Dale Feles:
Imo, it all depends on the game, and the open mindness of the other players.
