What makes sense to you may not to others.
They may like laptops better.
So they'll pay for this.
And it won't make sense to you.
But it will to them.
And they will like it.
The best way you can show your disapproval is to not buy one.

This particular laptop wont be failing anytime soon. The way its constructed, the only way it can get damaged is due to user fault. The hardware in this is built to last.

Iunno. I think the nicest thing about it is how much you'll be saving on electricity. This 200watt laptop with an eight hour battery life will definitely be cheaper than your 1000watt powerhouse that you leave on nearly 24/7 anyways.
