Scientific proof of God? Atheism vs Theism
○ Μαρία ○:
Alright, just putting my own personal beliefs out there:
Spoiler (click to show/hide) I do in fact believe in God, and have faith in his word. I don't particularly like labeling myself as a Christian though, because of the label "claiming to be a Christian" brings onto people. With every religion there are always extremest, and I personally have come in contact with them, and they are extremely irritating and bring a terrible name to those who believe in God, they've caused me to leave many churches because they miss the true message of God, and that is to love and accept everyone. I don't look at it as my religion, but my beliefs. Yes believing in God does give me a sort of comfort about the afterlife, it might seem to be stupid to other people to put your faith on something like that, but to me it gives me peace of mind. I've never shoved my thoughts about it down peoples throats though, they can believe what they will. To be honest if I didn't have my faith in God, a lot of bad things probably would've happened to me by now; but I like to tell myself that some day we will go to a better place and that these sufferings we go through will end some day. There have been times that I have doubted the existence of God, and it left me thinking for weeks, but in the end, I do believe in him. To me he is like the Universe, something so big and mysterious, we know about him, and yet we know nothing. There is still so much for us to try to comprehend. Even if the path is not always clear though, it's still an interesting journey. I believe, there is evil in the world as a test, the world is a place full of sin, and we have free will to do what we want. God gave us free will because he wants us to make the choice to believe in him and to ask for his guidance, not for us to be forced to. We are tested every moment, and even though we might not always make the right choices, or do the right things, he still forgives us. To have something so positive, for me, is a wonderful feeling. I might not always have the answer to everything, but I think the unknowing makes life a little more exciting.
Religion will always be a hot debate, but honestly, yeah to some it's just their hope, and I don't see anything wrong with that. People who have opposite beliefs might try to counter that, but the funny thing is, with these types of topics, it will be all arguing and no actual thought changing. People have a firm hold on their personal beliefs and what they truly care about. I might not be able to say that "you shouldn't bring these topics here" because I think it's a bad idea, because it happens all over anyways. I just think it'd be better if everyone could learn to accept the thoughts and feelings of others, but then again that is another thing that will probably not happen. It's nice to stay hopeful though. Anyways my own point I am trying to make I suppose, is that believing in God, or believing in anything comes from within yourself. Not the priests, the leaders, your parents or your friends, but you. As a child you have a certain mind set given to you, but as your grow you are given the choice to believe what you want. And what you believe in can form you as a person. These will always be my beliefs and no matter what others might say to try to discourage me about them, I always keep a strong hold on them, because they mean something to me. Knowing that, I just don't think this is something worth arguing over.
I am not the best at explaining my thoughts sometimes, because sometimes I feel it's just not easy to get into words. So I apologize if this comes off as confusing...

That is pretty much the same reason I figured. If there is a god, I'd assume they set things up in the beginning, then just let things run their course for the most part to see how we would do with what was given to us in said beginning.

actually, once i was walking by the side of the street and one guy gave me a paper that , in resumed words, said: God have let us do our stuff by our own to see that without him we will allways screw up, but he is* giving us enough time to try any type of government or so.

Apparently some individuals are upset with me for making this thread. They think I was trying to start a flame war. Well, I wasn't. Someone lock this.
