I guess I go to the Renaissance fair whenever I can. Those duels are amazing. Always feels fun to pick up that giant hammer and pretend you're big and tough before you realize that you just dislocated your shoulder. funfun.
350 DOLLARS FOR A FUCKING HAMMER? THAT'S COMPLETELY reasonable.

oh shit I remember going to one of those when I was in 2nd grade on a field trip, it was kind of weird walking around in a school uniform while everyone else was all dressed up for it.. I remeber seeing these tiny drum cymbals you can put around your finger or w.e. and I wanted it SO BAD I even asked people around me for money and begged our chaperone for it, but I never got it ):

Can those technically count as conventions? I guess they are sort of like them event wise lol. I've been to two Renaissance fairs. They're really cool. My first time I went as an elf, I worked my ass off on that outfit x_x and the second time as a just a bar wench type shit. I had an amazing time each time, they're so much fucking fun. And the food is really good too. I can agree though that shit there can be really expensive, I remember my friend and I were browsing around, looking at these really cute hair accessories and I asked the lady how much this crown like pin cost, and she was like "3" and I was like "$3.00?! :DDD" and she just smiled at me and said "no" and walked away. :(
I also did some archery at the first one I went to, it was really sweet. I liked using the long bow. The lady/man/it thing that ran the archery stuff though was really rude though, lol.

Ah, those tiny drum cymbals.......I hated those.
Honestly I never really dressed up since I couldn't really afford to get that metal armor or custom clothing whenever I went. Just had more important shit to buy first. Really, if you can impress some people (some how ._.) they're so into it that they'll give you shit. I still think those duels are really intense.
I guess if a Comic Con or any other one of those conventions come up around Las Vegas I'll try to dress up as doctor purnell with a gas mask, although nobody would know who that is. If anyone knows of any near here please tell me, I really need an excuse to buy one.
