[Intelligent Discussion] World where money doesn't decide Life or Death

(1/4) > >>

Cake Faice:
Me and Alphaggot were discussing this. What would the world be like if money didn't automatically determine wither you live or wither you die. Not trying to put it off like "MONEY IS BAD BLARGALGAGAASFASD", but it wouldn't be such a big determining life factor.

Prime example of what I mean by life or death:

"Whats that, you have a beloved pet that your family loves and your children cherish that needs a live saving operation? No Money? Lol too bad"

"Whats that, you have a loved family member that needs a surgery to save their life? No Money and you can't qualify for insurance? We'll still do it, just we'll pin you and your loved ones deep down in debt to where it's miserable to live with."

We'd still have money circulating around to buy possessions and such with, but to play such a giant role in human consequence. Discuss.

Rocket50:
Wait, what? What do you mean death if no money for an operati-

Oh wait. Amurrica, right.

But... A good chunk of the world already has a system where money doesnt decide death...

Well even though a lot of countries have dat healthcare stuff, just might as well still put this out there.

Mehis:
We had this kind of question in ethics and I can't really remember the results, though... Of course it's not moral thing to let somebody die...

I think we should look at the patient. As horrible it might sound, if he/she is old there is really no need of surgery. There are probably many other patients with even more serious injury, with life ahead of them.

I cannot really say more because we have everything up here OK with medical care.

Sounds like my kind of place.
