I just remember playing until 5 in the morning one summer night trying to beat Splinter Cell Coop with a friend.
And I have two SWBII due to the fact my friend's play station decided to scratch up the bottom of the CD.

And I keep the Sly Cooper series below my TV even though the PS2 isn't hooked up.
Talking about Sly:
Sly 4: Thieves in Time E3 2011 Gameplay HD

Probably the only reason I would buy a PS3. Looks like the developers here captured the techniques of the old series.

My only real experience with ps2 was doing exactly what you did. playing until 2am with a friend on god of wars 2 finally finishing the game next morning.

hopefully something new comes out that can actually provide more of an experience.
I still think super smash bros. on the wii is one of the best games around just because of how fun it was to enjoy with friends.
