Now that there is hardly a competition with Intel anymore, Intel is probably going to go full monopoly and probably spike their prices. So long for the graphics cards too. (http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1143975)

Ivy Bridge processors gonna be whooping up AMDs shit anyway
-
Oh shit, We were talking about economics yesterday and this is baddd newws.
Intel would shit our pants because their prices will go up. Fuck monopoly
-
I need to buy my parts quickly
-
Oh crap this is horrible D:
My final cpu. It shall be an AMD.
-
I'd be interested to see Nvidia make some desktop processors. I can imagine them either making more economic CPU's (like how AMD is almost always cheaper) or they will fail and make a $800 CPU with the peformance of an i3

go for the bulldozer 8 core there
same price of a i5 but heh its still gonnna help dem

But has lower performance than a Phenom II...

AMD processors were shit anyways.
well, the few i've experienced were
The monopoly part is bad, though.

I plan to upgrade my motherboard and cpu, I was going to get an i3 (since most are better then my Phenom II 810 X4) or one of the cheaper i5's.

Save a little more and get an I5

My kids are gunna grow up not knowing what an AMD desktop processor is :(

I wonder if AMD had any TV commercials, I haven't seen one to this date and instead I've seen a bunch of Intel ones.

Nope :(

Buy 2 of them super cheap and make computers. Then keep them 'til they know how to use them, and show them.

They really wont be able to raise prices for a few years after this, since AMD CPUS will get the job done still for a lower price. Hopefully AMD comes back with competition. I would still stick with Intel but if AMD were gone... Prices would go up and Intel would have no real need for developing new CPUS.
-
Well in the future I'm not going to buy another AMD graphics card since they have too many issues with drivers, so I won't need to worry about the GPU market, but the CPU market...oh dears.
-
If Intel has no competition, they will have no need to make faster CPU's. Then so ends the electronic revolution.
Then suddenly, Nvidia?

Well, if you read the actual AMD press release, they were saying that their sole goal is not to compete with Intel. (Don't have link atm)
However, they clarified saying that they will still be in the market, just not for competition as the sole purpose.
Kinda odd press statement to make in the first place, imo.
Here's source that updated etc.
