Title: Radio!
Post by: Eion Kilant 739 on November 27, 2011, 07:43:58 PM
In relation to recent developments, why don't we just get WolfDJ?

I'm surprised no one has suggested it before, or maybe the search feature is broken.

Now I've seen other servers using these and it's very helpful to spectators as there can be VERY long and boring rounds. It also spices up the gameplay, if there is a global mode.

FEATURES:

Global mode. All players can hear what is on the public radio.
Private mode. Only you can hear what you put on the radio. (Is on when global is off)
Song Que. What songs are upcoming/will be played.
Mute. A check box for easy access, very handy if the radio is annoying.
Volume. A slider bar controlling the volume, 0-100.

VIP BENEFITS:

VIPs can remove a song in the song Que in global mode if it repeats.
VIPs can start a vote to temporarily (until the map changes) ban players from voting on songs to be played in global mode.
VIPs can add a song to the song Que with a single vote. (They count as two votes)

ADMINISTRATOR ABILITIES:

Admins can perma ban players from voting on global songs or ban them from voting on global songs until the map changes.
Admins can enable "DJ mode" for global mode. They can either elect a VIP/Admin to play whatever song he/she wants or to randomly play songs while favoring songs that have been voted up.
Admins can delete any song in the global song Que at will.

NOTES:

Global mode is disabled by default, so players who don't want to hear it don't have to do anything.
If a song on the global song Que receives 5 or more negative votes it is removed from the global Que.
Volume is set to 75/100 by default.
In order for a song to be added to the song Que in global mode it must recieve 2 votes. (To further prevent spam)

So, what do you think?

Is this WolfDJ?

I have never heard of that before. I'm just combining my ideas with stuff I've seen on diffrent servers (they generaly have diffrent features), then making ways it can't be abused/spammed.

EDIT: I just checked, this is the exact same response I got when I suggested a radio on another community. What features does it have, or better yet, why don't you provide a link?

It's pretty much exactly what you just described,

except none of us have to actually do any code for it.

WolfDJ is usually used only on fretta anyways.

one thing is coolz playing music on sundays.

another thing is having music while playing on the server.

also coolz wouldn't choose the songs, people would vote for what they like.

Perma banning players for suggesting something sounds very silly.
Or if you mean like just banning them from actually voting then that makes sense.

Other than that it doesn't sound like a bad idea.

I mean perma banning them from voting on global songs, I'm going to clear that up now.

It's great to have some Moderator support though.
