Title: TTT exploit
Post by: Ἆxule on November 20, 2011, 09:24:27 PM
If you click a bind key while you're dead, it doesn't follow the restrictions of being dead and broadcasts the message to everyone. Though the people who found this out didn't abuse it, it easily can be done.

Dude, that is reallly helpful for VIPs.

So you can say "stop prop pushing" or something.

Well if its an "Exploit" That means everyone can do it until it is patched or fixed right?
I myself dont know this Exploit but i guess it really is helpful to VIPS so that they can say stop PropKilling.

If the VIPs start using it for that, others will catch on and start trying it out.
Then we have to start kicking for what we were doing in the first place

It'll only be used by VIPs if/when the exploit is fixed and restricted to VIPs.
I don't think it's a bad idea to keep it for VIPs, or have an alternative way for VIPs to talk when dead.
Shouldn't be a worry for it being abused either, as it's quite simple to catch that, and demote for it if necessary.

I suggested this before and no one said it was a good idea.

Now many people say it's a good idea.

Wut?

Dammit! Now everyone knows how i talk when I'm dead :(

Anyways reason why we can't talk when we're dead is becuase as soon as we do people will  know we're dead.

It can be necessary in some cases though. I really think it'd be useful, as I know it was a huge nuisance when I was a VIP not being able to warn/talk to people when dead, then having them leave or something.

Oh i know it can be a pain in the ass but i just don't think it should be there because we could REALLY screw over peoples T rounds just by using it.

And so could a misinformed RDMing newbie.

Next map change should be ... fixed?

Thought I fixed this last night but it was reary late and I was ded.

I'll try to check in on TTT later to confirm this if someone doesn't already.

It's fixed. It gave me a hint saying to speak in team chat when I tried. Thanks!

This can be locked now

Just one thing :

Is it possible so that when you're inno and accidentally type teamchat's shortcut key ['u'] instead of just general txt chat ['y'] it'll switch over automatically, instead of losing what was just typed / wasting time re-typing it?

ALSO:  I noticed that the TTT server is currently at 20/18 players full.  I know VIP/Admin only slots were aded, but can we PLEASE PLEASE make it so that if they were only meant for a VIP/Admin to deal with problem players, that it stays this way?  It has been impossible to get on sometimes because those slots on top of the slots we can regularly access are full completely for decent periods at a time -> meaning that if these WERE meant to be just for emergency dealing with problem players, which I thought was the case, the abuse of these extra slots needs to stop.

The reserved slots are not the cause of the server being full, if there are 20/18 players, there's only actually 18 playing, not 20. In other words, the server would still be full, and you would wait the same amount of time.

But when non-VIPs/non-regulars leave the server, do those VIPs/Admins "stay in" the vip/admin only slots, or do they get shunted into non-VIP/non-admin player slots?  IF they DO [and only if, hence why I ask] get shunted to those non-VIP-only/non-admin-only slots then we have a problem since then, instead of taking only the slots that only they have access to, then they'd be taking up slots non-VIPs/non-Admins could be using to play.

But that all hinges, as I was / still am careful to note, on what happens if those slots are full and non-VIPs/non-Admins leave

Correct me if I'm wrong; I think the reserved slots are not actual player slots that are "admin/vip" only.
(again, I think)
The reserved slot system kicks players that do not have VIP or admin rank associated with their name, if a vip/admin joins.
