Title: Remembrance Day
Post by: Shawn on November 11, 2011, 06:32:03 AM
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
- Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae

RIP To all those soldiers who have gave their life's to protect their country.

I've been to Arlington cemetery two times, just rows upon rows of headstones.

I kinda hated how some of my friends at school wanted to ditch school to play Skyrim and didn't give a fuck about remembrance day.

May all the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for us to enjoy freedom, rest in peace. We shall not forget you.

So, as my school Gym isn't finished, we couldn't have an assembly altogether like all the other Remembrance Days.

So, there's a video running with images and such from pretty much every war. Meanwhile, some people are surfing the web or Playing Halo CE (newfags).

2/4ths of the class isn't wearing a poppy, even though it's Pay What You Want. I still gave 4 dollars worth, for every class.

The Last Post is playing, and when it's done, everyone else in the class is fidgeting or laughing or talking to someone else about something completely unrelated.

I was fucking crying.

RIP.

This kid in my school made me regain faith in humanity.

Just like your school, it was "pay what you want" for a poppy. The kid gave 5 5$ bills, which makes a total of 25$ for one poppy. His kindness made my day.
