well, i have a motherboard that has a dead sound jack. its just the green one but the rest of them that output sound (white, orange, black) still work perfecty. i want to change it o that the pc recognises one of those as the green
is it possible?
EDIT: views, but no posts :/

I believe some sound hardware has software based jack assignment.
Like for instance, some ports can be changed to mic in or stereo playback.
I've only done this on linux though and am not sure if your sound card, whether built in or add-in, has the capability or if the windows drivers would allow this even if your hardware did.

You want to make one of the output ports into an input? I dont think you can do that lol. You can redirect audio back into the input, but you can't say plug a mic into an output jack.

What's the audio chip/card?

ASUS A8N-SLI PREMIUM

Realtek ALC850
Go into Realtek audio manager and set the ports manually to what you want
Though you can't redirect ports... just use the front port?
