About an hour ago I turn on my computer and it's working as usual for about half an hour. Suddenly Steam freezes and I figure "lol steam" and attempt to ctrl alt delete it but the menu thing that pops up on Windows 7 when you press it doesn't respond. I do a hard reboot because I waited about 3 minutes with nothing. It fails to fully load my desktop and only shows the taskbar. I restart again and now it wont even get passed the Welcome screen. It does a few times but then gets stuck on a black screen after. Safe mode doesn't even work. I fixed it by doing a destructive recovery. Does anyone know what the fuck happened? It's working now but I want to know what it was.

If it's a Western Digital, expect it happen again.
But this time, you'd be fucked no matter what and require a new HDD.

I think it was just some file that got fucked over. But it was fine before yesterday, the last thing I did to it was a defrag with Smart Defragger (and I only had 0.8% fragmentation). And it started up and booted fine for about an hour and a half until it froze. Maybe the comp actually froze and then me doing a hard reboot corrupted something?
im still thinking of getting a new HDD. I saw a 1TB Samsung one. Also if anyone wants to help me find one. Only Seagate or Samsung and has to be 3gb/s (motherboard doesn't support any higher) and has to be at least 1TB
