Title: Music taste time line.
Post by: Cable on August 16, 2011, 01:11:10 PM
Easy thread is easy. Not sure if this should go in games or music, But what ever.

Just name the kind of music you liked when you were younger, All the way up until now.

First, I liked the music my dad listened to, Which was like Metallica, Rob zombie, Alice in chains.
Then I just liked that pop shit on the radio.
and around the time we got a laptop and high speed internet, I started to find new music on youtube and shit,
So i then liked trance,
then techno,
then "rave",
then Hardstyle/Jump
then ytpmv shit,
then Dubstep.

and i've loved dubstep ever since.

KAY your turn.

When I was little, I liked whatever was popular

When I was about 10, I started listening to house-ish electro trance

When I was 11, my childhood friend showed me Nirvana.

When I was about 12, I got into limewire and thepiratebay, and started getting my hands into stuff like I am x-ray and other semi-unknown

At 13, I was listening to nirvana and hardstyle, along with YTMND and YTPMV music

And just after turning 14, around when I found rnd, I got into dubstep, as well as Modest Mouse and getting even deeper into Nirvana.

Now, I'm kind of the dubstep massa of my school.

When I was younger I only listened to classic rock.
Now I listen to most things 70s-30s with some 80s rock and a little bit of 90s and beyond. No rap, no techno, none of this modern pop shit, none of this modern rock shit, none of this modern country shit. Essentially no modern shit, aside from Ce Lo Greens fuck you.

Went from that pop crap /ashamed
to Pendulum/DnB
to Green day
to screamo/emo/emocore/metal/heavymetal
to dubstep
left dubstep behind, got so boring
to Meat Loaf, Def leppard, most great old artists
to the occasional 90s RnB(Rhythm + Beat, Not the new-day Rhythm + Blues shit... or is the other way around?)
to garage
to everything except dubstep again, dependent on my mood

I didn't really listen to music when I was little.

Fifth grade I basically discovered radio and listened to whatever they shit in my ears at the time.

Then in seventh I found out I actually enjoyed listening to rock.

Hasn't really changed since.

I used to like pop music and now I might like any style song but not pop so I don't actually have a certain style of music that I listen to.

Somewhat the same.

When I was little, the only band I knew was Smash Mouth and Guns n' Roses.

Then in 5th grade, classmates influenced me into that Rap shit, then in 6th grade, after music exploration class played some shitty modern music, the teacher put on 'Twist and Shout' by The Beatles. While everyone else groaned, it was there I stopped listening to that modern rock, pop, and rap shit and began to listen to a shit-ton of Beatles, then began to explore Classic Rock and picked up on Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd and such. Hasn't changed since.

I hate it when people call other kind of music kind "shit" due to the fact they simply don't listen to it. Everyone has different taste in music, hence, this is why all the humans are different from one another. There is indeed some specific songs that are considered shit, but this doesn't mean all the Modern rock songs are shit... Etc... Even if I too mainly don't like "Modern" songs, I learn how to respect it.

Anyways, as for me I rotate around all the different kind of songs, as I grew up listening to them (when the radio had a wider selection of songs).

1-6  Classical music because of my parents.
6-13  Bryan Adams, Billy Talent, some mainstream Pop and whatever I found on Youtube and sounded nice to me.  9-12 Drowning Pool and some Metalcore.
13-'Til now  Everything. Literally. Rock, Pop, Korean Pop, Japanese Rock, Classical, Opera, Prog. Rock, Metal, Jazz, Blues, Dubstep, Electronic, a bit of Metalcore when I feel like it, etc.

It's fun to listen to various, different genres. Especially when you can choose from more than 2000+ songs.

EDIT: Yay, 2nd post.

1990's, I liked what my mom played in the car. Songs from the 80's.
Early 2000's, I listened to Simple Plan and Linkin Park.
Mid 2000's Pop
2007-2008 I became a huge animefag and listened to Jpop
Late 2000's I listened to different punk rock bands like Green Day, All American Rejects, and Sum 41.
2009-2010 I listened to mainstream music.
2010-Now Old School Rap from the late 80's to 90's.

You obviously have never listened to good rap. So shut up, and don't put down or compare other music tastes. It can start unnecessary flame wars.

At the same time as you saying not to compare music tastes, you're basically saying in the first sentence that he doesn't know what he's talking about and he hasn't heard good kind of music. Some people just don't like the same types of music, lets all get over it and continue with the thread. (not directing this only to cheesicle or anything, i just noticed that post first)

I used to listen to country music with my dad (Johnny Cash, and some other singer, something Haggard). For awhile I liked listening to soundtracks from movies, now I'm into stuff I'm ashamed of like electro pop shit, kesha for example  :-[

Just because 90% of the people on these forums don't like mainstream doesn't mean you have to be ashamed of it. Ke$ha is a hoe, but she makes good party songs.

Younger like 10 under, not really listening to music.

Now/later, If I like the song I like it, if I dislike the song I dislike it. But preferably some kinds of pop.

Btw, I hate rap.

First it was random, which I liked. Like, some of the firsts I actually liked was Sakira....  :))
Then, I didn't really listened much music.
I started to listen to Pendulum, techno, so on...
There to hardcore techno.
I still remember how I got into DnB. I was watching some CS clip and it had Camo & Krooked - Tonight. I played it all day, until I realized to click other UKF songs, then whole channel and there I pretty much just accidently transferred to UKF Dubstep. Now I don't really listen any other songs, than the UKF has on their channel. Also, Skrillex.
I still like to listen some hit songs we have here.
