So my friend recently graduated and hes been looking for a laptop for college. He doesn't know what to get so he asked me to find him a good gaming laptop. His budget is 2,000$.

If you want small go for 13-14 inch LAPTOP.
Avoid netbooks.

can get every upgrade for that laptop (1tb HD, i7-2820 processor, 8gb ram) for $1529 (just add the extra 10 - 30 bucks on network for your usage) and also get:
16gb flashdrive, and just case 2 free
gonna have to get this for myself actually.
