Pretty much what the title says. Is there a way to disable this like in tf2?
-
Same here, the map is just overall laggy for me, not blaming anyone.
-
Went for a completely effect based map to make your gfx card cry.
I guess it could substitute for my failed ttt map.
The map has a weather cycle from sunny to rainy every 3 minutes all based off particle effects and hdr exposure, color correction, and fog control.
Features:
3d skybox
fake volumetric lighting
leaves (yay)
dynamic rain (toned down to compensate for lag)
rain splashes
sweet hdr control based off lostcost
color correction
fog control
some other stuff

one day i will own a good enough computer to run this at 60fps
-
there used to be an options in the hl2 engine to disable "weather" effects which is gone now.
Basically any particle effects tagged "weather" in the editor can be toggled on and off clientside.
The only other way to get rid of the particle effects is to remove the .pcf file in your particles folder called jimonions.pcf, or just remove the line from your particles_manifest.

Okay thanks, I have a good computer but still goes down to 10 fps when it rains :D
There is no jimonions.pcf, just weather.pcf. Bah, I'll just remove the line. What line do I remove though?
-
There has to be jimonions.pcf for it to work... pics

have you tried running it single player?

no, but I'll try
Okay, when it starts to rain/gets dark, it starts to lag and I notice in the console that it says something about unknown particle: rain and stuff.
-
huh, looks like the particles are actually server side then in which case nothing can be done about them.

Its because you don't have the particles and their materials.

Yeah, my can run 300 fps max (can't set it lower for some reason :/ ) but then it starts to rain and drops to 10 fps :/
This is why I hate rain.
