Title: My first lame attempt at 3D rendering
Post by: Captain Communism on July 29, 2011, 11:12:05 AM
I made a Glock 18 in Blender, which is like a free 3DS max.
Some pics.

This is my first creation, and took around an hour.

EDIT: Made a crappy red dot sight on it.

Not bad, looks pretty good for a beginner. Some people make movies with Blender.

Thanks.
At least I managed to get the sights in line with each other and the barrel.  ;D

I used 3DS Max.

But it's not that bad for a beginner.

Blender was too limited for me.

Blender was too limited for me.
1. Can't afford it
2. Even if I COULD, it still wouldn't work due to some error with the toolbar (Each time I click any part of it in the trial, it crashes)
I'm happy with Blender.

Made some improvements and coloured it.

why green
Because Olive Drab is for wimps.

Lol jk, I couldn't get that colour.

It's what Glock uses in the compensated versions.

Made some extracting cartridge shells.
Might do a laser attachement next.

Try to use smoothing and loop cuts to smooth edges. It looks a little blocky, but it's good for a begginner. Also, enable smoothing so that it looks well....... smoother. Use bevel on the grip aswell. Sorry if I'm lecturing you, but I've used blender for a long time.

I made this awhile ( like 1 year lol )ago:
http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12721 (http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12721)
I just can't texture for shit. Blender is a very good tool, but I use the older version ( 2.45 ). It's much easier to use.
Oh yes, if ya want that G36 for any reason dl the file and get the .nif scripts plugin to import it. Use it however, just give credit.

Made a flashlight.

Also made one of those fancy laser grips.

Again, taking suggestions.

You may notice that render doesn't appear.
I did something (don't know what though) and my options vanished.
