I agree.
Games are a different story. Usually, good games end up getting pirated because they don't have cock of dooty multiplayer.

I try to get people to BUY the game if it's good :\
Support the devs.

Microsoft on the other hand, are all about squeezing as much money as they can from everything they make.

The Xbox 360 was the worse example for that. I'm running Pingazed OS and there is no difference hardly, I dunno about updating, but so far I didn't need it.

Just activate it, and you can get full updates.

I re-installed my OS with 64-bit about a week ago, and installed it again on a friends laptop TODAY. Updated, everything runs fine.

So wait,

Your parents would be able to know that you did it?

Seriously, I've gone through a million OS installs and my mom or dad still doesn't know. They think I used my OEM key.

And why are your parents so involved in your build anyway?

They're not, but it would look a tad bit suspicious if I bought the parts for a pc, and there was no OS.

But I'll still give it a try once I get the parts.

Plus, I'm a bit paranoid. (I almost got arrested once, and I do NOT want to go down that road again...)

Nah man, I ALMOST got arrested.

Cleared of all charges, not even on my record.

(It was for threatening someone, not pirating stuff.)

Huh, my parents don't even care if I use a pingazed OS or not, they hardly use the computers anyway.

I don't think the FBI would bust through the door, hold you at gun point for having a pingazed OS. The worst that could happen is that windows keeps on reminding you to get genuine and after 30 days it will go into restricted mode, they don't automatically assume you pingazed.

Well

If you have an activator that doesn't suck you'll never know the difference between pingased and legit. Mine even blacklists the updates Windows puts out to get rid of fake certs.
Title: Re: I've finally decided.
Post by: Peetah on July 05, 2011, 12:22:50 PM
Not the activator.
People always make the mistake of leaving automatic updates on.
Microsoft has a certain update were it detects a activator of any sort and then sets a time bomb that will restrict access in the future.
Even if you turn updates off, it will sometimes turns itself back on.
I suggest you permanently remove autoupdate.

First off, we're not trying to "peer pressure" you into pirating OS. None of us want to see you waste 100$, especially when Microsoft is a company of greedy fucks.

Second, "Paranoid of getting arrested"? That's borderline schizo yo'. It's not even illegal to own/receive pirated stuff, it's illegal to DISTRIBUTE it. The only people who are in any real danger are the people who upload it in the first place.

An example would be going to a flea market and buying a 1$ pirated movie. The cops aren't going to go to each person who bought it and arrest them, and even the guy who was selling the DVD's would only have to pay a small fine.

Third, why do your parents care so much? You're acting like they know more about computers than you, and even if thats true, then there would be no reason that they would be against pirating OS.

You have this misconstrued idea that the second you torrent a OS, the FBI are going to come and bust down your door.

fun fact
hl2  was released around 2004

but if I'm correct, portal 2 runs on a slightly modified l4d2 engine, which is a modified source engine

l4d2 came out in nov. 2009

deg is implying that most portal 2 players are about 1 1/2 years old.

If Gabe Newell would quit spending the Ep3 budget on the snack bar, Ep3 would have came out sooner...

This is what's going on:

Gabe newell is so devoted to having Ep3 be perfect that he wants to program it all by himself.

However, during his time programming he cannot eat, and goes into a trance while his metabolism slows to a crawl.

Due to the time it takes to program an entire game by yourself, Gabe must load up on fat and proteins for his programming hibernation.

Yea, the 6*** series up to the 68** series is crap. So the GTX 460 does out preform it.

It's a combo, he can't switch it. And the AMD cpu that comes with it has a 65** built in, so he really has two GPUs. Sort of.
