I know I'm not in California let alone America but

1. I know people dere

2. You know how these things work, eventually the U.N. or something would want to make a worldwide ban :I

Uhh, a ban on what exactly?

Bllaaah stop tl;dr :<

Quote
27 Jun 2011 – WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court says the state of California cannot ban the rental or sale of violent video games to children.

Ban On Children buying Vidja gaem. Retailers get charged $1,000 for each mature/"violent" game sold to people under 18.

It got overturned. Means people under 18 could not but the FUN games. Means eventually ban would spread, possibly cause United Nations and such. Means then people under 18 in the Americas could have possibly also been under the effect of the ban. That would suck, no?

Uhh, a ban on what exactly?

Is it so hard to read the first sentence of the link he posted?

"The Supreme Court on Monday struck down a California law banning the sale of violent video games to children, saying it ran afoul of the First Amendment right to free speech."

Also i support this kind of ban, kind sad it got shot down though :(. reason why i think you should be 18 to buy some games well fuck look at some them with the violence and porn in them (GTA= screw a slut then kill her) I'd rather children not being able to get this kind of content without parent/guardian consent.

Say what you will but some of the games out today has changed society for the worse.

Sorry :s

Also, I agree Shawn. I don't like the idea of 7 year olds playing GTAIV...

"2009- HEY MOM LOOK I RAN OVER A POLICE OFFICER

2025- HEY GUYS LOOK I'M GOING TO RUN OVER THAT POLICE OFFICER"

But at least, if the ban had gone through, perhaps those who still persisted to buy said games could be allowed to take a test or survey of some sort that would also appear on a record or account of some sort... almost "legally qualifying" them to purchase such a game.

Of course that would mean not everyone would be able to purchase said games if they did not qualify. But then what about people finding ways to cheat the system like they always do :I

It's illegal for underage to purchase the game, not to play it...

GMOD, HL2, etc., I find is acceptional to at LEAST 13 year olds.
But GTA? No, just no.

I have friends who are 13-14 year olds and their attitude + behavior towards other is just irritating...like they rage a lot and don't get along that much.
And guess what? They play GTA.
GTA is like the biggest impact on kids nowadays for some reason.
Not to mention they get pretty bad grades...

I'd say most people found me as at least 15+ due to mah height >_>

Shawn, stop being Shawn.

If you worked at a gamestop or some shit, and sold a M-game to some 12-year old you can say bye-bye to your job. They don't fuck around with that shit. You pretty much NEED parental consent.

Then it's called reporting the store. The M that's slabbed on the case is on there for a reason.

That law's here in Florida, annoying as fuck. Can't buy a M game unless I'm with an adult.

I don't think it matters how old the kid is it matters how mature they are.

It's common sense to not let a 13 year old buy a rated M game. though putting a ban on any violent game is stupid.

Ok..... This is stupid

FOLLOW THE LOGIC   :icecream:
-M games are equal to R movies
-R movies are inappropriate for younger ages for various reasons and thus require parents to make decisions on child's maturity
-M games are inappropriate for younger ages for various reasons and thus require FUCKING PARENTS TO MAKE GODDAMN DECISIONS ON CHILD'S MATURITY!!!!!!

ITS NOT HARD.

i dont disagree with the ban entirely, if its just 'U NID PARRENT CONSINT"
if your parents want to restrict what you play, thats up for them...

yes. on what reasons would they really make the law? if they do that, they need to ban football, baseball, wrestling such and such
its like making a law against punching people with your right fist, while making it legal punch people with your right

So they United States of America is practically running our lives.  I guess thats what we get for electing left wing conservatives/liberals  :(
Also, I'm 14 and the closest Gamestop is like 1.5 miles away and I bike ride the way there.  Now I have to get my parents to get me the game or come with me. That sucks

What I am saying here is that next time Obama runs for President, DON'T vote for him please!  Obama is running OUR lives.

Dude.

Just.

You have no idea what the fuck you're talking about.

Yeah, Obama might be doing bad, yeah nobody's going to vote for him next time, but he's not the one influencing state decisions. It's the individual states doing that, which, I believe, is a Conservative Republican view.

I don't think it matters how old the kid is it matters how mature they are.

Although I personally like this idea, I feel that the only way to gauge maturity is to say inappropriate words until the person in question starts to laugh.

You do know that it is possible to have a liberal state government. (and California is a perfect example)
