Title: Another VIP Suggestion (PLEASE READ)
Post by: Sabb on June 26, 2011, 06:23:17 PM
Well, now that there's more admins than VIPs, (12 VIPs, 17 admins) and most of the VIPs aren't even active, I really think something needs to be done about the VIP promotion system.

I don't know specifically what should be done, so I would like a discussion here, but I really think something has to be changed so that there can be more active VIPs, because there are currently people who I think should be VIP and aren't, and I REALLY do think that it would help the servers. We'll need VIPs to be active and handle small situations when admins aren't on, because even though there are 17 admins, most won't be playing too often or will be only playing on a specific server. So, it's really necessary to have more VIPs.

I think something should be changed in the promotions so that it's slightly easier to become VIP, since it's really quite hard, and seems like it's easier to get admin than VIP(don't take that literally, it's an exaggeration). The simplest solution to this that I see is requiring fewer admin's approvals. This is also necessary because there's simply a lot of admins now, and the amount of admin approval's to get VIP is going to be too hard to get at the current ratio.

So, if something should be changed to the VIP promotion system, what do you think should be changed, or should it not be changed at all?
Discuss.

I think that the numbers of admins that approve should be SLIGHTLY reduced. If there's not enough, the VIP system will go back like the respected system.

The problem is that admins dont play enough to say that they have had a positive experience with the majority of the VIP candidates, so that's pretty much why a good 80% of vip apps are denied

I would say more heavily favor community votes

1/3'rd of admin approval (4 Admin +1'ns).

Either that, or make VIP votes actually count towards approval.

As in

3 VIP +1'ns count as an admin +1? Or 2/3'rds of ALL VIP'S counts as an admin +1?

And honestly, if you look at it objectively, all the people who even show the slightest sign of not getting VIP get -1'nd by everyone. I really do beleive that lowering the amount of Admin +1'ns needed for VIP wouldn't cause any problems.

where did u get 3 vip? lol

its a ratio 2/3 of vips counts a +1

you also realize it would only take like 2 or 3 admins to get VIP

i dont believe that is enough admin opinions when there are plenty of admins out there to judge... A possibility might be ACTIVE admins stay on the list and do not have a say

It'd be 4 Admins to get VIP.

You can even raise that to 5, which is how much I needed for VIP. Just 7 seems like wayyy to much ;c

It's with the assumption that all four new admins will be active in the VIP section.
It'd raise the active approvers to 11,
divided by three = 3.6,
mulitiplied by two = 7.2, rounding down to 7.

This.
Hence why I mainly started the thread.
When it changes to 7 assuming it will, that's just too much IMO :l.

EDIT: Looks like someone got unapproved again :l.
Fact is, a lot of the admins that vote don't play the servers much anymore, as with the majority of the older community members, and so don't know the people making an application. That or they only play on one specific server, and again don't get the chance to actually play with them.

Well this is no use if the Admins and VIP's are inactive, their must be another way to keep the admins and VIP's active, so if we can get the basic idea for that, then what moo is talking about will work.
WHAT.

Just in case someone hasn't seen the update check this thread ( http://forum.randomgs.com/index.php/topic,2969.0.html (http://forum.randomgs.com/index.php/topic,2969.0.html) ).

I decided on this modification for right now and we'll see how well it handles itself.
