I'm creating my own Minecraft server at the moment and right now I'm trying to find plugins for it. I found out about the Permissions plugin and I've been trying to get it on my server for awhile now and nothing seems to be working. If you would like me to tell you how I'm doing it, I'll edit it in here. Any help would be awesome.
While we're talking about plugins, do you guys know any good ones? So far this is what I have:
-LWC (protects chests, doors, dispensers, furnaces, etc)
-Permissions (working on that -_-")
-Colorme (Thanks to Deacon)
That's basically it for now. I was looking for the plugin that gives you that big introdution everytime you log in, welcoming you to the server and telling you that if you have problems, use /help as well as the message of the day (motd) and your mail.
If you would like to play around on the server and help out with fixing everything until things get going, pm me and I'll send you the info.

Did you delete EssentialsGroupManager.jar and EssentialsGroupBridge.jar?

Well I just deleted everything and started over. I was using Crafty to host the server instead of using the one from the minecraft.net site and one of my friends wasn't able to join. So I figured it be better to just come out clean. The only problem is that when I download the Minecraft.Server from Minecraft.net and open it with Java, it immediatley shuts off. I have no idea what that means. My friends said it might be because my laptop can't handle it or w/e.
Any help on that would be awesome.
And I'll stay away from essentials like Deacon said.
Thanks everyone!

I'm using craftbukkit now.
I seem to be having a problem with the plugins though.
whenever I try to use the colorme or lwc commands ingame, it gives me a message saying internal error occured. When I do the commands from cmd.exe, it works just fine. Any help on that would be great.
Also, with groupmanager, When I set the suffix to let's say Guest, it doesn't show in game.
and last my IP. for whatever reason, some people arn't able to connect to my server without using Hamachi. I've port forwarded correctly, atleast from this video I did.
How to port forward for minecraft: Belkin router (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzObkzpczGQ#ws)
Thanks in advance for any help.

ok. I don't know why colorme doesn't work, nor do i know what lwc is. so i can't help you there.
Groupmanager doesn't show the prefix/suffixes without essentialschat, i think.
They don't work on mine either. But there is an option in essentials/config.yml
to sort the /list command by groups (which are default in groupmanager as default>builder>moderator>semi-admin>admin)
You set your computer to a static up? If so...
Your forwarded port is <your static ip>:25565? If so...
Your external ip is <insert external ip>, and you are connecting in MC to <externalip>:25565? If so...
I don't know.
If step 1=no: Do it.
If step 2=no: Do that. Use the instructions on portforward.com (http://portforward.com) which will show you step by step for your specific router.
If step 3=no: erm...you should connect with your external ip. lol.
If none of those work, then idontfuckingknow

I can lead you through fixing this, but it's late and I'm on my iPod
add lachrymose08 on steam
if it's still borked tomorrow I'll help

ok. I don't know why colorme doesn't work, nor do i know what lwc is. so i can't help you there.
LWC is basically protection. It allows you to lock chests, doors, furnaces, and anything else that be activated by people without the use of signs. one command is /cprivate. this will only let you open that specific block.
There are different types too. you could lock it with a code, or lock it for a specific group. I highly reccomend this.
As for color me, I'm not sure why either. I found out that I could edit and modify permissions ingame, so I'll try and see if that works.

I have essentialschat. The problem is that it's not noticing the changes I'm making in my groups.yml and users.yml
I have to make those changes in game which is just a bigger head ache really. I don't know why it's not letting me make this changes with Notepad ++

I don't know.
I'm not sure what a static IP is, so no. I've tried with my external IP and I've used the port code for 25565. One dude was able to get on it, but someone else wasn't able to. I'm not sure why that is.

I had forwared my port the same way that site did, so it's not the forward porting's fault. It has to be my IP. maybe I'm putting the wrong IP? I've done like 4 different ones.
If none of those work, then idontfuckingknow
I guess it's just my computer being all weird. oh well, hopefully it'll all work out in the end. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

That'll be awesome, but please don't feel obligated to do so, I'll figure something out eventually.
Thanks Again everyone.

read this article from that site
it is important that you have a static ip, otherwise you will have to reconfigure the server every time you reconnect to the internet.
http://portforward.com/networking/static-win7.htm (http://portforward.com/networking/static-win7.htm)
Once you set the static ip for your computer, forward the port (25565) with that static ip
Don't forget to change the ip in server.properties

Lol, after spending about 30 or so minutes looking for 2 different DNS Address, I finally decided to call my ISP. after talkint with them for a few minutes, they lead me to the DSN that I had already had via Command Prompt> ipconfig /all. After explaining to them that I needed two different DNS' Address's, they told me that I can't set up a static IP address with Time Warner Roadrunner.
Awesome. I guess I'll stick with Hamachi then?
Thanks anyways Deacon's for the help. Very much appreciated.
>Edit: Game Freak, thanks again for offering to help, but I figured out a way to work with the permissions. All I have to do is modify the groups.yml/users.yml to my liking and then ingame or with console type /manload. I'm not sure if this is the correct way, but it works for me.
>>Edit: Well it was working. I'm not sure why it stopped...
>>>EditL I don't even know anymore. At first it let me make the changes, then it stopped, and now, it won't even let me use any of the /man commands. I'm not sure what the hell is up. o.o

I see you are not fully understanding how to portforward.
If you really want to know.
We can help you.

Thanks, but I've already done that. Twice.
I need to set up a static IP adress
And an update with my server: I've gotten everything basically ready. I've gotten groupmanager to work somehow and all the plugins are working except for colorme.
If you would like to join, just ask and I'll send you the IP. For now, you'll need to use Hamachi until I can set up a static IP.
Thanks everyone for the help! No way I would have been able to do this without it.

Though this isn't important to anyone atm, I'm going to go visit family soon for about 3 weeks, so until I come back, my server won't be up.
