Title: Ability to drop ammo for teammates in ZS

I just noticed you can drop ammo clips for others in TTT, and thought "Oh wow, this would be awesome for ZS".

How hard would it be able to create/port a similar script like the one in TTT?

I thought in ZS you could empty ammo clip, doesn't that drop ammo? Never tried myself. But, yes this would be a good idea.

The empties the current clip back into your inventory, not dropping ammo.

I have seen other servers with this and it was really succesful, only thing i'm worries about is that when people get ammo from ammo boxes, they could just spam tiny bits of ammo everytime and lag out the server...Or just simply be a ammo runner and help out other teammates before they die...Good things and bad things...

You would probably have to make sure it wouldn't be abused...

e.g. someone gets ammo regen, and drops all their ammo for their weapons and picks it up with their most powerful one

Or just distinguish ammo types, so you can't drop a clip of 50 P90 rounds and pick it up as 50 grenades.

Even though that would be pretty hilarious.

I said to make it like TTT, where you drop the ammo BOXES (Like Pistol, SMG, Shotgun, ect. Idk how Cade kits or genades would work though).

Just make the boxes no collide with the world. The only reason it would cause lag is if the server has to make calculations on hundreds of boxes and their physics.

Grenade ammo IS actually a grenade.

Like

That's how source reads it. A grenade ammo == A grenade weapon

Lol? you only get like 2 nades anyways they never regen. (unless the map has a nade box)

Well, split the grenade into 2 parts: the casing and the explosive :P

I don't think you understand.

Grenade WEAPON is the same as Grenade AMMO.

If you pick up a Grenade BULLET/AMMO, you'll get the Grenade WEAPON.

It's how source works.

What I was saying though in my idea was to make the casing the "grenade weapon" and then drop small explosive boxes as "ammo"

You can't

Because if you pick up a GRENADE AMMO entity
Source will automatically give you a GRENADE WEAPON.

Well considering ammo is already registered as its own ammo type, (otherwise, two types of ammo would be the same, kind of like pistol + higher level pistol, they both use the same type of ammo) all you have to do is make entities that give players a certain amount of that ammo. For example you can drop 30 rifle shots and 10 pistol shots and 5 cross bow and 1 grenade. Basically you would have the player drop ammo based on the regen of that ammo type.

Seems like it could work to me. All you need to do is make the ammo into entity form.

No, because grenade ammo doesnt regen.

Yes that would for the automatics. But in case you didnt know, there are things that dont use default ammo.
