well i got out of a speciality hospital called childrens mercy and i had 2 broken bones in my right leg: tibia and the phibula sorry if i didnt spell those right. im in a full leg cast now and i have some questions: how long does the swelling last and how long am i expected to be in the cast? more info is that the tibia snapped in half then was bent and the phibula just snapped

oh damn. How did you manage to break both the bones? those are pretty necessary to your leg, being  the bones that, you know, make up all that part from your feet to your knees.

id imagine it would be pretty painful, the swelling shouldn't last more than a few days.
you'll probably be in the cast 6 weeks...

wait...didn't your doctor talk with you about this?

It depends where you broke them and how hard of a break it was really?
I broke a bone in my hand a while back, but it wasn't displaced too much, and it took some 7 or 8 weeks in a very uncomfortable splint.
That was with still writing, and playing sports like basketball (yea, maybe the basketball part wasn't such a great idea), on top of having it broken for a week with no splint or anything, and again, still writing and participating in sports.

For a broken leg, especially since it's in two spots, I'd imagine you'll have a while in that cast.
Just try not to put much pressure on it very often and such.
With my hand, when I started using it more during the last 2 or so weeks before having the splint removed, it healed quicker because the movements or w/e in the hand helped to put, and keep, the bone in place, but I'm not sure if that's the case with a broken leg.

Just do what ever your doctor suggests you do. If they suggest that you do some daily exercise for your leg which seems really stupid, do it, because as dumb as they may seem, they will help.

The swelling should also probably last a while, and your leg will naturally swell from being in a cast.

GL getting better.
