Title: New graphics card for $100
Post by: Supertoaster on June 01, 2011, 09:09:03 PM
Can someone help me find a new graphics card for $100 better then my Radeon 5450 HD at Newegg? I'm getting confused, not good at graphics cards. I don't think I could find much for only that much but i'm sure I could find something better (preferably Nvidia but I will settle for ATI any day)

I have $130 but $50 of that is from a BestBuy giftcard, and Bestbuy doesn't have any good deals.

Try newegg I saw lots of deals there but I am bad at comparing the specs and too lazy to research it so any halp would be greatly appreciated!  :)

I found a 5570 at Newegg for $60. I was going to purchase a new PSU too because I learned the 5670 needs 400 watts. BUT THEN I learned my current 5450 also needs 400 watts but I've been running it on 300 watts this whole time (with no problems at all)

Then I troll'd myself. I figure I can get a 5770 now but then It needs 450 watts, And that's 50 more watts then the 5450, would it really make a difference?

Also whats the safe temperature for a 5450? Without any games running it's 42 Celsius atm.

5670 HD looks like a good deal, Here is some benchmarking.

I'm too lazy to put them in spoilers and I keep messing up so prepare for wall of images.

I just noticed that 5670 is on sale and original price is $70 (by the time I buy it won't be on sale)

Nvidia 9800GT is roughly same performance (look in the above post to see) and it's $60

also I might sell my 5450, IDK how much I will get out of it I was guessing $20 It's used but haven't had any problems with it (expect it to have a shitload of cat hair)

note that offer is not 100% guarantee because IDK if I can buy it.

I can either.

A. Use my money now (because I won't get any more until christmas) and buy the 5670 and PSU
B. Buy the 5770 using all my money then buy the PSU later in the year (I won't install the card untol then)
C. Anyone hook me up with a Nvidia that's similar to the 5770 yet cheaper then it?

fuck this shit my mom decides to use part of the money for something she needed.

I only have $80 now for the card which is $70 (fullprice) but there is one there for $60 on sale (5670 btw) and then I have $50 bestbuy card I will use for psu.

HOWEVER my mom is being a B*** and might not get it because she "doesn't want me to break it" And my friend on skype was going to help me using my video chat on skype.

fuckfuck +Tax on the $70 5670 is $76 + $7 shipping = $83 so I have to get the one on sale.

Also nobody answered my question whats a safe operating tempature for a gpu? Any in the 5xxx series

Probably a GPU's temperature is idle at about 40 degrees Celsius and I think a high of 70 degrees? Ask other people though.

max temp for most things are 90*c so your 5 series is fine

my 5550 easily got to 45*c idle

I went out and bought an actual lockbox to keep my money in, I count it frequently...

Even though my mom isn't going to steal from me, and I have no siblings, but whatever.

I told her not to, but she threatens me with it.

My grandma might give me like $100 dollars and my mom says I can only have $20 of that -_-.

I am disappoint with 5770

I also realized they are running this on a crazy shit resolutions compared to mine. http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/ATI_Radeon_5770_5750_-_Featured_Review_-_Page_11 (http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/ATI_Radeon_5770_5750_-_Featured_Review_-_Page_11)

They were also testing this eyeinfinity stuff which I don't need.

the 5830 was not much better (also newegg is out of stock)
