So I took the case off the desktop I have (the one i use to run mc) because a friend of mine suggested i clean it
I looked into the case at a bunch of shit i don't know the names of
I saw a fan with metal underneath (it was dusty as fuck) so I lifted the handle on it and lifted it up
I saw 9000 pins, and was thinking to myself why does a fan--oh it must be there to cool. anyway
I cleaned the dust off
then i tried to put that thing back on
Long story short, It didn't work
I bent some pins
I tried to bend them back, and when i put it back on it seemed to go smooth
Until i tried to boot the computer up.
Hopefully you computer people can tell me what i did
or need to do
because Im kinda fucked if this thing is broken

my camera screen is fucked, so i can't see while i take the pictures.
Computer sounds like it boots but no video
both the fans turn on
my hard drive normally makes clicking noises, it doesn't now
judging by the large PROCESSOR SOCKET
that is my processor?

L;OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
HOW THE FUCK
the processor was not meant to come off?!?!
it should have been locked in
Whoever built your pc is fucking stupid
and you should not touch that at all
basically, you bent the pin which the CPU needs to work
you're fucked

ok wtf, ur cpu just ripped off, oh man, you're so fucked :icecream:
I'm just wondering, why didn't you wonder where the processor go? And in the future, if there's a fan on top of a motherboard, that's where the CPU is...
Also, I dust my fan with the crevice tool on my vacuum with a straw at the end of the tool so it would suck up the dust pretty well.

Tip for next time
Compressed
Air

Huh? You guys realize older cpu's had actual pins right? You can still remove those cpus.
Bent pins happen, just have to get OCD over position of the pins. Also, if you move them too much it could weaken the metal and snap them off - don't do this.
Depending on the cleaning method, you could have also shorted your system somewhere along the line, motherboard is common.
When you turn it on do you notice a difference in onboard LED lights?
But yes, you can always buy a harddrive enclosure for 20 - 40 USD from newegg, plugin the the harddrive, enclosure plugs into usb on another computer, mounts the HDD as a USB ( or possibly esata ) drive.
Can copy files etc, etc.
From the looks of it, cpu is a P III

You might want to just order a new CPU, granted it's not the mobo dats fried.
AND DON'T BEND THE WIRES.
What type of CPU is it? Since the wires are bent, go ahead and remove the CPU from the Heatsink (the part with the pins from the big block thing attached to it) and look for a model/brand.
-
So I didn't know that you could remove the processor from the heatsink
I told a facebook friend my problem
he gave me the internet equivalent of a "areyoufuckingkiddingme" look (in the form of text)
and told me what to do
Replaced
booted just fine
He also said I really need to upgrade
apparently this computer is >4 years old
Can this be locked now?
I appreciate all your help guys
