Bring technology back to the industrial revolution / World War 1. It would change modern technology and the weapons for better.
Civil War Period:
Color Video Camera (To take color videos of Abe Lincoln and to record his voice.)
SMG (Just give it to a Union soldier ;)
A copied Wikipedia article about the Assassination of Abe Lincoln to present to him.
A 2011 Edition APUSH History text book
An iPhone with all of my songs in it.

Causing the technology in our current period to be about 100 years advanced.
Well, the medieval or the Dark age was really a long period of a stop of learning thanks to religion >_>
Since it happened, were about 1500 years behind technology lol.
And traveling back in time would create a huge paradox :3

I love how everyone is suggesting electronics to bring back with them...
And IMHO if we had a machine to travel back in time it would cause some sort of EMP causing all these electronics to be fried and render them useless.

> Implying time travel is possible.

Who said the Time Machine Couldn't just fold a piece of time rather than rip a destructive hole in quantum physics? :-[
You're no fun :(
>implying if it did happen it would've already happened
>implying that people would not keep time-travel a secret in case it would get into the wrong hands.
shit i typed this once but i didn't work i wil type it again
i would go to ground zero on 9/11 with:
I would save America and stop us from attacking Iraq (unless George Bush is that much of a fucktard)

> IMPLYING
TIME TRAVEL
IS EVEN
POSSIBLE
you see time travel is therotically possible. All of the universe sits on a frabric of time. With that said if you could stop the expansion of the fabric or retract it you never know what could happen! :D
I think about this every other day :ISpoiler (click to show/hide)

^Is a bit Tl;dr but a good Paradox-solving read. Not too Hard to Follow ^-^
Then have a Beer with the One of the Founding Fathers.
Proceed to make Lincoln the First President In Space.
You neglected to mention the work of Dr. Emmit Brown. The problem Brown and his assistant found was that if you go back in time to meet your parents before you were born, your mom gets the hots for you.
Basically, with time travel, if it could happen, it already has. Nobody tried to stop the Lincoln/Kennedy assassination, nobody tried to stop 9/11, nobody tried to do anything one small act would forever change, so it's not going to happen.
But changing the time line would cause paradox's... I'd like to believe that time travel has happen but in the way it does in the book i read "Time scout" Which these people "Time guides" take groups back in time to only learn the history first hand but not actually mess with anything.

Or, people don't want to fuck history up?
This guy named Ronald (Can't remember his last name.) Said that time travel is possible, but you can only travel in the period between when the time machine is turned on, and when it is turned off.
Hmmmm yes everything is a chain reaction of events i agree with that general statement. When it comes to observation of the past as a like history class or something, simply going to see it would change the past unless say it was just a monitor and it looked back into the past.
@Sanders, shit is cash! :D
@Shawn, being in the world and simply breathing the air is an action. You mess with the flow of matter and materials. If you think that doing things in the past would affect the future, well what about messing with micro organisms and what not?
breathing will not change the time line. Such small things as that would have no effect as long as those people didn't draw attention to themselfs and they just blended in then people would've carried on with their normal life's and nothing in the timeline would be changed.
I doubt it, people just being present has an affect on others. If you are walking through a crowd and someone simply sees you and is like "Damn that guy hs some nice long hair" that thought could change his life. He is now going to grow his hair out to be like you. Of course that is an exaggeration but I am sure you get what I mean. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, meaning if you step on an ant that colony might not survive then an ant eater might die and then that southern hick might not have a dinner. :D

Yes it would have an effect if you believe in fate as in that everything happens for a reason as the example you gave and well i don't believe in fate. becuase simply put those are not enough to change anything important. but like i said above "blend in, don't draw attention to themselfs" what i'm saying is so that no one notices them and once their gone no one notices either...
I guess if its possible to be completely unnoticable. And yeah the microorganisms wouldnt really have a noticable affect most likely. And idk what you mean by fate.... I never suggested it or ment to anyway. I personnaly dont believe in it.
Steins;Gate is about a group of friends who have customized their microwave into a device that can send text messages to the past. As they perform different experiments, an organization named SERN, who has been doing their own research on time travel, tracks them down and now the characters have to find a way to avoid being captured by them.
