If you could only travel back in time.... I want to know youe guys opinions on this.

I was laying in my bed thinking about this glow stick I was messing with and how it would blow everyones mind even like 200 years ago. So I thought this would be a good discussion.

If you could bring 5 things back in time.... (Not including medicine or anything helpful) what would they be and why?

1. Glowstick, because people would think I was a wizard!!! :D (Insert harry is a wizard joke here)
2. Lead Pencil, because they be writing in ink with a quill. They would jizz at the sight of a pencil! :D
3. A pack of magnum condoms...... Dont ask.
4. iPad or droid or some smart phone.
5. A tape recorder.... yes it is kinda old but if you brought it back far enough and recorded someone saying something and played it back shit would be cash.

Please I can already see sabbath going....

Since it happened, were about 1500 years behind technology lol.

ehhh you can't just say it was religion... the Muslim were in the height of there technological life during the middle ages. It was mainly the repressive nature of monarchies and the affect of abuse in terms of religion. I hate generalities! :D

All these kinds of discussions are more like "what would you wish you had if you were in this time period", because time travel would've already happened at the earliest point a time traveler would journey to. If you haven't been visited by a you from the future, you're not going to visit your younger self in the future because your younger self would've experienced that.

Basically, with time travel, if it could happen, it already has. Nobody tried to stop the Lincoln/Kennedy assassination, nobody tried to stop 9/11, nobody tried to do anything one small act would forever change, so it's not going to happen.

Actually, if I really had the ability to go back in time, I wouldn't do anything to alter the course of history.

So maybe I'd just get a video camera and record many famous people and disasters that occurred.

Travelling through time is possible if you can actually bend the scale of space, which is by doing that with a wormhole. A wormhole bends a hole from one side of the universe/space to the opposite side which can therefore be possible to travel. Quantam physics allow this...so did Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawkings.

Hmmmm yes everything is a chain reaction of events i agree with that general statement. When it comes to observation of the past as a like history class or something, simply going to see it would change the past unless say it was just a monitor and it looked back into the past.

To the ideo that we don't have free will, I personnally believe that there is always two options and our past defines those two options. With that said the past may make you learn more toward another thing but there is still always a choice.

These are both presumptions about the nature of time. Seb assumes that time is linear and not changeable. He presumes that there is only one world-line (or space time) that cannot be changed.

However, you don't consider that time may be able to be re-formed. Perhaps at the specific point in time that a message or person goes back in time(NOW) the world-line shifts and time changes. Perhaps we are living in the "true" line, which someday will shift when a future traveler travels back in time. This version of time travel means that a future change in the past will only impact our reality the moment the act is done.

OR perhaps when a traveler embarks they create an entirely new world-line and move there, never to return to our own world line. In their world line they can do as they like, since it is a separate entity from the reality that they left from. This idea makes the exact opposite assumption that you make Seb -- that the past cannot change the future once it has occurred and that a new reality must be constructed. This would have frightening implications for the wary time traveler, as they would never be able to return to their original universe.

Both of these theories assume that time is not calculated in its entirety from the beginning of existence (opposite from the presumption that you make seb). Either way, its all supposition at this point, and if my theories are right, we will never know for sure what implications time travel has, since it will never affect our reality.

breathing will not change the time line. Such small things as that would have no effect as long as those people didn't draw attention to themselfs and they just blended in then people would've carried on with their normal life's and nothing in the timeline would be changed.

I doubt it, people just being present has an affect on others. If you are walking through a crowd and someone simply sees you and is like "Damn that guy hs some nice long hair" that thought could change his life. He is now going to grow his hair out to be like you. Of course that is an exaggeration but I am sure you get what I mean. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, meaning if you step on an ant that colony might not survive then an ant eater might die and then that southern hick might not have a dinner. :D

Yes it would have an effect if you believe in fate as in that everything happens for a reason as the example you gave and well i don't believe in fate. becuase simply put those are not enough to change anything important. but like i said above "blend in, don't draw attention to themselfs" what i'm saying is so that no one notices them and once their gone no one notices either...
