Title: Where were you when the world stopped turning?
Post by: Cheesicle on May 18, 2011, 06:12:06 AM
Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning) with Lyrics (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hr8VwYLcxGo&feature=related#)

Just out of curiosity. Where were you (If you remember) when you heard about 9/11?

No hate please

I was 5 years old, and I still remember it like it was just yesterday. It was my first year in China and I had just recently moved in a few months ago from L.A.

I was in the 1st grade living in Shanghai, China. It was 8:46 PM when the first plane hit. (Shanghai is 12 hours ahead of New York City).

My parents had heard about the attacks from friends through phone and rushed home from dinner. They turned on the news to Chinese reporters streaming the events live. I think I was asleep at the time, or I was about to go to sleep, but my parents called me over to watch. Of course I didn't understand what was going on.

My brother said I laughed at the falling people. If that was true I really want to go back in time and slap myself. I can't believe I would be that disrespectful.

It was very sad, I was about 4, 5 ish and in kindergarden. I didn't know about 9/11 until like 5th grade. And don't feel bad, you probably thought it was a movie or something.

I was in grade 6 at the time the teacher told us all "the twin towers have went down" (had no clue what the hell those were since I'm not American nor did i pay any attention to American events) so i said "Thats nice why do i care that some random towers went down"

Would just like to say that when you're 5 you obviously don't think the same and have a total different view point on everything.
But also, I was in school at the time it happened, but that's basically all I can remember. They never played it on the TVs or anything either, but I remember very little from it.

Tbh, I just remember seeing on TV two towers collapsing. I didn't really care 'cause at the time I knew nothing about other countries. I feel so bad. May all the victims R.I.P.

I didn't hear about it until about a year after it happened because it wasn't on our TV programs.
Except maybe for the evening news, but I didn't stay up that long back then.

My relative worked in building 1. He was one of the lucky ones and managed to escape.

I was in 3rd grade, getting ready for school at like five in the morning. I was like "Mom! some building in New York got hit by a plane." She was like "wtf no way". But it was, and it was sad.

I was too young to remember, unfortunately.

I really didn't know about it at all until 2003-2004 then I understood what happened.

I feel really old and I feel bad for being old

But then again someone thought I was 17 the other day.

Then I felt good again.

my work sucks and its long. 12 hours for 3 days man.
It's so boring and you gotta stand for 12 hours although every 2 hours u get a 10 minute break to sit down..

It made me sad though cuz the job itself is definitely a dead end factory job.
As I sat there imagining things to buy with my money like a new flat screen for my room, new pc, xbox with gaemz... I realized as I looked around that people I worked with were foreigners who doesnt speak english. Russians, hispanics, asians.. and theyre here NOT TO buy things that they want (like I am) but to actually put food on their table.

What made me sad was the fact that the job is so easy... that I know for a fact that by the time computer science students graduate college, theyre gonna be the ones programming the robots that will replace these people one day. Considering the fact that robots will do this job more accurate, faster, and cheaper.

I was like :(
They already fired the people who worked there as lunch ladies and replaced them with machines.

I felt bad for these people :/

Agreed about feeling bad, but this is why i keep saying an education is important (and why i keep repeating it).
Do you want to be the unfortunate laid-off worker or the person who fixes the robots?

And I can't even land a job with a damn broom and a mop

Grade 3.

English Class.

RIGHT AFTER THE ANTHEM.

The principal makes an announcement.

Majority of School was  :'(

I only barely grasped what happened.

All I knew is that a Plane Crashed in New York... I was too young and incapable of imagining just how horrible it was...

We didn't do work that day.

I kind of felt bad at the fact that I'm working here to buy things my daddy doesn't want to buy for me or my boyfriend can't afford immediately (spoiled little princess I know)

And I felt even worse at the fact that when I graduate college theyre gonna be out of jobs because of us...-- Idk I just feel like this:
"I'm going places and this is just another journey in my life that I will soon leave whenever another opportunity opens up for me as take life as it goes. Im young and my future is bright"

Then I looked around..
Then I felt horrible..
