So I scored pretty big today, and landed myself a 2.4ghz core i5 Laptop with 6gig's of ram for 350$.
Runs fine, everything looks great. Plan on doing a OS Re-install though.
Here's the problem though, it has a GMA 4500.
Inb4- USOSTOOPAD
I plan on reselling this laptop in a few weeks for 450-500$ (It's still in stores, and currently retails @ 650$).
UNTIL THEN,
I have something that can run gmod at mid/high settings.
:D

Is a GMA 4500 a bad graphics card? I wouldnt resell. Just get new GC like im using a Nvidia GT 240 I got it for 150$.

It's a laptop.
You can't swap out GPU's or CPU's.

._.
Resell it, get a laptop for 500$(£450 I think?) with athlon dual 2.6, 6gb ram and 5470 1gb/512mb
Great card and overral awesome laptop
dat gmod max settings 1366x768
all other games run well too(above 30fps)

The GMA 4500 is ok.
But its the best that intel's got so thats pretty bad.
Also, Ati mobile gpus are just plain faster.
Not being bias, but thats the truth.
$350 dollars for a laptop is a steal.
Comparing you can get a netbook of similar price, but netbooks are garbage.

There's one I'm looking at, it's a core i5 w/ 4GB's of ram and a 5650 for 500$.
Gonna go with that. I can always upgrade to 8GB's if needed.

First off
That's the one I was looking at before (except it was a 2GB version) same specs as everything.
Then you AND Xrain were like "NUP JUST WAIT TO GET ONE WITH A BETTER GPU"
Second
I didn't have 400$ paypal, nor 550$ cash. I couldn't have gotten that one in the first place anyways.
Third
This was a steal for $350. I can easily resell it for $500 once I put a fresh OS. I would have been stupid to not take this.

fyi 4250 has no dedicated VRAM at all
-
thats...damn near better than mine
-
Finally re-installed the OS.
Updated drivers
Everything
Lost Coast runs at DX 10, Max AA/AF, All settings on High with HDR, Full res (1366x768) @ 20FPS
Holy fuck. I didn't expect it to be this good ._.
I recently read somewhere I5's have their own shader clocks, which is why it runs so great on this thing.
Gonna try out Mirror's Edge later today. If it's smooth at mid settings, I'm going to keep this one as opposed to selling it.

There is no way that is the GMA4500, that's the Intel HD 3000 GPU, it has to be ???
i5's come with them integrated, must be
What i5 is it? Then I can tell you

Well that's... Better than my desktop. :(

No clue.
But it's a Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Family 4
According to DXDIAG.

Press Windows Key + Pause/Break or Hit the start button and right-click "Computer" on the right side, then click "Properties", your cpu should be in the "System" category.

Or run Speccy / CPU-Z
And snivvy that would be the active switch, if it needs GPU processing power it will activate the gpu, if it doesn't, it will use the weaker IGP, saving power
