So I got this game Section 8 on steam, and it installs.
I click "Play", the "Preparing to launch..." dialog comes up, and nothing else happens.
From what I know, this is a fairly common problem. But I have no idea how to fix it.
I've verified cache files way too many times, I've ran with -windowed parameters, I've followed every possible Steam help article, and nothing.

It's not his GPU .-.

The reason why it does that is because the game failed to initialize.
Meaning there's an issue with your hardware, drivers, software, something. It's not steam. Steam is able to run the game just fine, but when it 'starts' to run, it crashes.
Look up "Section 8 CTD" or "Section 8 Crash to Desktop" on google and search for common issues.

I had the exact same problem a few months ago. This is how I fixed it.
1.open the start menu
2.select "run"
3.type dxdiag and press enter
4.a window will pop up
5.select the display tab
6.make sure all the direct x features are enabled
The problem is that the game doesn't know these features are disabled,so it thinks your pc doesn't have them. These are basic features needed by almost any game.
Hope it all works out.
