simple solution make it so they hurt you when they stand next to you, but they can't self detonate only detonate when killed.

Not implying that this is a good idea just putting in my 2 cents on how it could be a good idea.

I saw that class on some server(Stoned potato maybe hmm). They are based on classic headcraps and lunge slowly.  And explosion radius is very small and you should be very close to inflict some damage. And the damage decreases exponentially (depending on distance).

It's not unbalanced because weak(low hp, low dmg), but 5 chem headcraps can rape anyone if he is not with x2 health and x2 speed.

20dmg is a bit much. people would easily get hopped and bombed, and as soon as the zombie was available, humans would F.E.A.R or get bombarded by exploding headcrabs. i'm all for the same kill = explode system though, a bit more of a speed boost and smaller frame would help you get the jump on people (see what i did there?) and because you have a primary attack, they cant just IGNORE you.

Look humans shouldn't even have healing machines. It's what you get for using them, but yes a small sound that lasts 1.5 seconds or a little more would be good.
