lol@price, you'd be better off getting a 6 core phenom for $200. Not to menchion you'd save good some of cash if you choose an AMD motherboard.

Hex-Core Phenom, $200, 3.0 ghz, AM3 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103858&cm_re=phenom_x6-_-19-103-858-_-Product)

Quad Core i7? 3.06ghz? Around $200? Wat.

But i'd really go with that AMD though, AMD might not be the best in heat management, but they still do stay cool if you maintain your equipment and clean your computer of dust once a month or so. But i'm still sure you'd save alot more money by going AMD/ATi while still hovering in the same performance range as your current set-up. You at-least want to have some money left-over for a new peripheral or a new CPU cooler or something, right?

ASDF

lol

Anyway, that NEC monitor is an IPS panel, not a TN film. Most lcd's are TN Film as they are cheap to produce.

But TN monitors tend to have a few issues.

-Poor Viewing Angle
-Poor Color reproduction
-Washed out blacks

But they are nice because you can get a relatively large monitor for around $200

An IPS panel was designed to fix all of the issues of the TN technology, while when the technology was initially released, they had a few issues that required them to have a relatively brighter back-light. These issues have since been fixed, and IPS panels offer much better color reproduction as well as viewing angle compared to any similar TN panel.

Considering this NEC monitor is right around $300 that is a Steal for such a high quality monitor.

"BUT OMG WHAT IS POINT OF GOOD MONITOR? MY FPS DOZ NOT GO HIGHER WIF IT!!>!>!>??! WHY SPEND MONIES ON IT?"

Gee, I wonder, perhaps being that your monitor is the thing you happen to stare at the most, and that several hundred dollar graphics card is meaningless if your monitor is a piece of crap and makes the colors all bland and lifeless.

On top of that, your monitor is a much longer lasting investment than your computer will be, as chances are you will migrate your monitor to a new computer while that next gen video card will be old hat by then.

Magic is right, NEC is historically a High-end monitor manufacturer with their monitors costing on average from $800- $2000. Which is probably why you guys haven't heard of them. But with this monitor being around $300 for an IPS panel, and yet being of extremely high quality, with virtually no Input lag, for such a low price point. Any TN film monitor cant hold a candle to it.

edit:

Here is a review of that NEC monitor if you guys are curious.
