Title: Growing up.
Post by: Shawn on November 09, 2010, 06:16:30 PM
Heres something Thats going around FB right now.

Growing up
Your best-friend becomes your worst enemy.
Lollipops turn into cigarettes.
The innocent ones turn into sluts.
Homework goes in the trash.
Detention becomes suspension.
Soda becomes vodka.
Undies turn into g-strings and boxers.
Kisses turn into sex.
Remember when getting high meant swinging on the playground?
When protection meant wearing a helmet?
When the worst things you could get from girls/guys were cooties?
Your worst enemies were your siblings.
Race issues were about who ran fastest.
War was only a card game.
The only drug you knew was cough medicine.
Wearing a skirt didn't make a girl a slut.
The only things that hurt were skinned knees and goodbyes only meant until tomorrow?

and to think we all couldn't wait to grow up...

Yes its a chain letter but i happen to like it, whats your thoughts?

When protection meant wearing a helmet?

Am I a pervert or does that sentence mean what I think it does?

Edited:

I'm not in high school or college yet, but I completely agree based on what I hear everyone talking about in school and FB (I don't have an FB account)

This illustrates a part of life called change.

While it does not have to be whats above, it happens constantly.

It is interesting to note our ability to ignore these changes until they become so distinguished that we marvel at their impact.

These, like above, serve as reminders of these changes we often ignore.

Wanting so much change we get ahead of ourselves.

Change can be positive, or negative...

But, I always wonder, why do kids my age take the negative change? Smoking weed, skipping school, drugs, stealing, etc. They know it's bad, and by doing so will screw up their lives, but why do they still do it?
Title: Re: Growing up.

Negative change is only in the eyes of the beholder. I mean yes if society views it as negative it is generally seen that way. But when it comes to drugs or skipping skool, thats kids social group doesnt see it as a negative thing. A kid in this group is praised for ssuch things. I know because I was apart of this social decline listed ^^^^.

In reality I still smoke weed and stuff; its not a negative though. Quote all the medical problems and I will still do it. Why? Because its what I want to do. The good thing and positivity about it is it helps in my creative writing! lmao.

So remember that everyone has different view points. My positive may be your negative.

Actually it can, if you get really addicted you'll end up spending all your money on it and not on bills and before you know it you'll be living on the streets.

All drugs work in this manner.

You can only get mentally addicted to weed, not physically.

Meaning that even though you think you are addicted, your body could easily go without it and as long as you have a strong mind, the addiction is no harm to you.
This doesn't apply to smoking and drinking and all the other shit though.

Oh I pretty much skipped this whole part of my life.
Never smoked Weed either. Or a cig.
Title: Re: Growing up.
Post by: bipolardiz on November 10, 2010, 12:27:04 PM
Mental addiction is the worst part. Half or more of smokers will tell you it isn't the nicotine, and that its the doing or action of smoking. So in that sense weed is the same as cigerettes. The other thing that makes it more addictive than cigs are the mind altering qualities. If cigs do that to you then I needa know what your smoking. :)

Lol then there would be no point in smoking weed if the person has a strong mind. Clearly the addiction got to them, thats why they smoke pot. Otherwise they wouldn't be smoking it in the first place.

Mental addiction for some is stronger then physical addiction.

So basically everything but two things. I ain't never gonna smoke, and sex will come. SOON;)
It's sad to see girls you once knew turn into sluts.. Or your friends becoming part of the "popular" crowd and treating you like shit. D:
And now I hardly do my homework. Today I got a fucking 0% on my algebra 2 quiz. ZERO PERCENT. AND I'M ASIAN.
Then getting suspended... Most horrifying school experience ever :S
And well soda is still soda kinda.. Just the occasional beer, and sometimes a little vodka.
FUCK YA'LL I STILL PLAY ON SWINGSS :DDDDDD <3
Fucking racism man.... Going to a school in Los Angeles as an Asian meant dealing with all the bullshit Latinos and Blacks give you... But I wasn't like those gay shit International Chinese students, and I actually hung out with Latinos and Blacks, sooooo 'stalll good :p
Goodbyes :( I've had to say goodbye to over fifty friends in two years, just because my retarded parents can't decide on a place to live. Fuck.
Oh well.

I hate chain letters with the fiery passion of a thousand suns.

They were cool back in 1996 when I first started using email. They just need to die now, and the people who make them need to get :knife: :knife: :knife: and stop wasting my intertoob space.

So as such, I refuse to acknowledge anything that comes out of some pyramid letter scheme but if I did, then I think that the person who wrote that is being overly dramatic and is biasing towards only the "negative" aspects of growing up, such as the loss of innocence. With the singular intent of a way to get a reaction out of readers to further perpetuate the chain letter, which considering it's "going around FB" he was obviously successful.

And honestly one of my best friends growing up was my older sister so :.  post == irrelevant.

I know people who are 30 and I wouldn't classify them as "grown men".

Being a grown man is about what's in your head. Not what your body looks like, or how old you are.

As for getting 0% on a math test, getting zero's is easy, all you have to do is do nothing. Or draw pictures on your test (although sometimes teachers will give pity points for this). You're more than welcome to fail your tests and not do your homework. It all comes down to what you want to do later in life (scary topic I know ???)

So if your life goal is to work at Walmart or McDonald's for the rest of your life, then great work! Keep it up! You're on the right track.

But if you have higher ambitions than fast food chain floor mopper, then go show people that you are indeed "grown up" and can take responsibility for yourself and try taking some time out of your busy "pimp life" and try doing stuff to make life easier for yourself in the future, and do your homework.

I LOL'D

Yeah looking back it DOES seem that way. Change happened and it fucking happened fast.
When I used to worry about who I was gonna sit with at the school cafeteria back in 7th grade, I used to worry about looking cool, etc.

Where getting behind the wheel and feeling extremely nervous about it to where hearing what the engine makes when you turn it on made my heart drop.

And the time where we all looked at ourselves in the mirror and realized something is different OR somethings NEEDS to be different.

Or seeing "that" girl/boy for the first time and feeling that thing inside you.

Seemed like it was only yesterday.

Now I worry about taxes, the fucking healthcare system (I think we should move to Canada), what school my kid will go to, my future, his future, our future, what to cook for tonight, tomorrow and tomorrow night, when to clean, when to do errands, an everyday schedule to make sure everything is done, college work and when to move to canada LOL.

Idk, bottom line is; I miss being a kid o_o If I could go back to my high school years all over again (can even start at 6th grade) I would be extremely happy about it.

Ah, this is a perfect simple saying I would love to use for my kids one day. Mind if I use it?

Not in this city we have 4 major school boards

•Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (English public board)
•Ottawa-Carleton Catholic School Board (English catholic board)
•CÉP de l'Est de l'Ontario (French public board)
•CSDC du Centre-Est de l'Ontario (French catholic board)

To get into a Catholic school you need a Roman Catholic baptismal certificate for either the child OR parent.

I loved the uniforms with catholic schooling..

My school didn't have nuns or uniforms....

But we did have hot cheerleaders in mini skirts :D

Yep. I'd rather the place actually feel like a school, and not like a catholic church with nuns all around.

Lol? You know not all Catholic school have nuns? its rare to find a Catholic school with nuns actually, mostly all catholic school the only difference is this extra class which is called Religion which is an elective class.. which you don't even have to take it... all you need is one credit for it and after that you don't ever have to deal with it Lol
