I can move some of the other good mega threads here too. But why must the old boards be locked?

Probably to centralize the little discussion that still goes on.

Pretty much this, and to allow people to pick and choose which threads they were actually interested in posting in into one place, without the overhead of the hierarchy of the old structure, etc.
