Title: My terrible luck >.>
Post by: accelleon on November 06, 2010, 04:14:54 AM
Well after a series of unfortunate events (no NOT THE BOOK) I'm back on steam but not gmod yet.

First my idiot brother gets the damn computer infected with a virus. I clear that virus(or it seems so) but after i reboot.... BAM windows failed to start. with the option pretty much forced on me (theres no way i would format, i would lose all the work ive done on my operating system along with all the backups of the code) i did a system restore. with that i lost pretty much ALL of my games and programs aside from the defaults, and firefox. but not any data which is good. on the other hand while i was redling and recovering all my programs, my god damn internet gets shut down for whatever reason which delays recovery for a good week or two. so its taken me this long to get to steam cause i had other things to dl first (like my beloved Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate, NASM, OGRE 3D, PhysX SDK (insert game/OS development software) yada yada).

after all that shit im now done dling steam and since theres an opertunity to play a game free for the next day (shattered horizon) im busy dling that then on to GMod and all of those prerequisites like HL). lets home MalwareBytes Pro can keep the viruses away..... >.>

PS: YAY!!!!!!!! COD: BlackOps comes out on tuesday!!!!!1111!!!!!1111!!!!

ok well, due to the failure of shattered horizon to play nice with my NVIDIA Control Panel Options (which i optimized for my OGRE 3D testing D:) i will:

be downloading garry's mod and whats required asap :D
getting the rnd svn manager
acquiring the addons for wirebuild
and building..... just i still dont know what yet xD

also thanks for the support.

well now my OS is on hold cause i can only do 1 thing at once (which at this point would be OGRE 3D). but im still waiting to be accepted as a NVIDIA Developer and have my Dev Account created so i can install the PhysX SDK, and in turn compile NxOGRE. Not sure where im going to go with OGRE but possibly since its PhysX we're talking about possibly a simple sandbox/simulator. both of those have interested me but i can only do 1 at a time so 1 will have to wait.

OGRE 3D has some damn awesome possibilities (even voxels for fully destructible objects). Still unsure whether it supports DirectX 10/11 fully.

As a side note (aside from you encouragement xD) tell me whether you want a REALLY realistic sandbox or a simulator. (mind you im still exploring OGRE ALOT, but i will get it done. eventually......)

I've had 3 hard drive failures in the past two months, forcing me to reformat and upgrade my windows.  :(  Now I have to reapply all my software licenses... :abuse:

hopefully you get the game, and not do anything dangerous with it.
