Title: To Orgin users
Post by: Prox on August 21, 2013, 10:30:30 AM
Ever since I got this Humble bundle I downloaded Orgin and went straight to downloading Battlefield 3. I started downloading it yesterday and it all seemed fine until today I've noticed that my download reseted from about 70+% to about 45%. Then after awhile when it has been at probably 80% (I don't know for sure because I was not monitoring the download) it went back down to 45 - 55% (don't know for sure for the same reason) and now when my downloaded reached 75% it reseted it self for the third time and went down to 54%. I've done some research on this issue and I've found that there have been quite a decent amount of people that had or still have this or a similar problem and they too did just recently brought the humble bundle and tried to download all sorts of games not only Battlefield 3. So to me it looks like this could be related with Orgin servers being busy.
So I want to ask those of you who went to download games on Orgin recently whether or not you guys have any problems downloading games?

I haven't tried contacting EA support because I've done enough research that convinced me that it's pointless.

Update: this time it went from 76% down to 58%. A whole 4% progress. I'll be trying the beta version of Orgin.

I had no problems downloading BF3 :idk:

Maybe your internet isn't being reliable as according to an EA Developer...
Quote
What is happening is that Origin downloads the game to your hard drive in "chunks". As they are completed they get decompressed. Let's say your computer is in progress of downloading the fourth chunk and it's 1GB (Your Origin client says "25 % complete"). If that download is stopped for any reason (shutting down Origin, network timeout, laptop hibernates or power outage shuts down your computer) before that chunk is finished, Origin will throw away that data because it is now an incomplete chunk and start back at 10% or whatever the total directory size is the next time you run Origin and continue downloading that file.

I had the same problem and my BF3 went down from being finished to going back down to 2%. After that I just left Origin as my only application up and BF3 eventually finished in due time.

I know someone who's download just froze for hours until they restarted it.

Welp, I managed to download Battlefield 3 last night and now it seems that I'm getting this weird ass directx error after playing for about 30 minutes luckily it appears to be a pretty common error even for those who have latest GPUs so there are quite a lot of suggestions on the internet. If any of you have dealt with this then it would be good to hear what you've done to fix it otherwise I'll continue my search on the web.

It looks like the game has been running perfectly fine today so I suppose this thing fixed it self.
Also if any of you guys have Orgin feel free to add prox10b. Perhaps we could play battlefield some day.

I have a similar thing.

When I first start the download it will say that its at 55% but after about a minute it goes down a couple percent and stays that way (going up as the download continues)
