What is happening is that Origin downloads the game to your hard drive in "chunks". As they are completed they get decompressed. Let's say your computer is in progress of downloading the fourth chunk and it's 1GB (Your Origin client says "25 % complete"). If that download is stopped for any reason (shutting down Origin, network timeout, laptop hibernates or power outage shuts down your computer) before that chunk is finished, Origin will throw away that data because it is now an incomplete chunk and start back at 10% or whatever the total directory size is the next time you run Origin and continue downloading that file.
Welp, I managed to download Battlefield 3 last night and now it seems that I'm getting this weird ass directx error after playing for about 30 minutes luckily it appears to be a pretty common error even for those who have latest GPUs so there are quite a lot of suggestions on the internet. If any of you have dealt with this then it would be good to hear what you've done to fix it otherwise I'll continue my search on the web.
