Ok so I want to find a way to filter how much Internet I'm getting as opposed to other devices, like say I only want my laptop to get 50 Kb/s and my desktop to get 150Kb/s
My parents are paying $20 for 3 Mbps. Which is like 380Kb/S, which I WAS ok with except when my mom uploaded pictures to Facebook and downloaded photos which made everything slow.
But NOW we have my brother on the TV watching Netflix,
My sister on the iPad watching Netflix and my mom on her laptop uploading like 100photos to a site for them to print them.
And then there I am trying to play a game with 700+ ping, literally.
My parents DO NOT understand that we need faster internet I'm trying to gate Wave which has 20 Mbts but a 300GB cap which should be enough.
And above everything it seems my computer is what is getting the leftovers. there stuff goes really fast while mine is REALLY slow even though my computer is connected to the router with a Ethernet Cable.
I just want to find a way to cap their Internet to about 70Kb/S, while my computer gets the rest so that they can understand that we need better internet.
Please help

Try to see if your router has QoS on it
-
Some form of traffic shaping will probably need to be applied.
This can either be done at the router or on each individual device.
Your home router might not have the ability to do so.
Also, if you have restrictions on the device the owner could always find a way around it or disable it.

They don't have to know ;)

Loke, I have DD-WRT installed and I've tried Qos before but it doesn't seem to work for me...
I've looked ALLLL over the place for a guide and can't find one. I'm trying to figure out how to make a VLAN or guest Wireless network and limit the speed of it but I can't find a guide for that either.
-
The only way I see that possible is by using a dedicated router box and running pfSense with separate VLANs assign to separate NICs.
Would require a lot of setting up and manual work though, not sure if DDWRT has that functionality.

DDWRT does have its form of QoS.
This problem does require a bit of knowledge so you might be out of luck here. :(
This would require you to flash your router so you might run into more problem if you don't know wacha doing.

I already Flashed it, like it already has the Firmware installed
DD-WRT V26 ReV 2 or something like that, but the V is 26
