So I'm wondering if you guys know any descent open world survival games.

Things I DON'T WANT LISTED...

Terraria
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Stranded 1/2
The Elder Scrolls series
Fallout series

All of those got boring real fast.

Tomb Raider is a good open world game. After you clear an area and move on you can always move back and explore as much as you'd like.

Real life. I'm not joking, if you're starting to get bored of all the games you play then it might be better to shorten your time spent on playing video games and do something else, that way the games that seem boring to you may get a lot more interesting. Games are like songs, the more often you play them, the more boring they get.
As for any decent open world games, I don't think I know any besides what has been already listed.

I've tried that. I go rock climbing, beach walking, free running, forest hiking all of it. But because of a torn muscle in my leg I can't.

Well, then I guess you could either do something else on the computer like watching a movie or looking up some stuff you find interesting or maybe look for a different types of games that also attract you.

NO DAMNIT -_- Those aren't "survival". I want something that doesn't have a real objective besides to survive.

This is a thread for finding a good survival game... not "you should try this instead".

Generic smartass response (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Survival_video_games)
But seriously, Prox is right. If you're finding all your games boring you're probably playing too much. Maybe spend some of your gaming time learning a programming language such as C++ or Javascript and build your own game. It is far more rewarding to build a game than it is to play through one, and you get to enjoy playing it afterward.

I have a very strong feeling he wouldn't want to do so lol, but if I'm wrong then Python would be ideal imo.

I don't play too much. I hardly play video games at all anymore. My steam rating's 3.2 and still dropping. I've just beaten all of my games multiple times over the years it's gotten boring and the multiplayer games have lost their "pzazz" after playing them so many times over the years.

well, fuck.

you said no S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat with the Misery mod makes survival a much higher priority. It's insanely difficult just to find some bread.

Set Fallout 3 to the highest difficulty. I've picked it up recently and I enjoy the challenge. It also doesn't have a ton of quests like TES games and you actually have to look around without a waypoint telling where you have to go.

you can try borderlands (1) and borderlands 2

is like an Rpg fps open world survival, you can play in coop 4 people max, you can do mission to get level up and survive over the world, or you can invite friends to have some fun like find a secret a legendary weapon (orange) or kill every single monster "humanoid" etc... I've played a lot.

Just came out, seems to be okay IMO: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_of_Decay_%28video_game%29 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_of_Decay_%28video_game%29)

Could be fun.

You might want to check out Wurm online (surprised Supertoaster didin't recommend it).

Wurm online is basically a Minecraft/Runescape blend. Your goal in the world is, well, basically to survive. You can craft your own weapons, armor, build your house, join a village, etc. Heck, when you get pretty far in the game in you can go on raids and attack other kingdoms (if you're in a PvP world). Just be warned, the game has a steep learning curve, and it takes time to get into and level up a semi-decent character. Personally, I enjoyed the game a lot.

If you want more information, I'd suggest checking out their site : http://www.wurmonline.com/ (http://www.wurmonline.com/)
