So let's get right to the point; Old ZS, even though Coolz put alot of time into getting it working, is still broken as fuck.
The guns are laggy, the animations are poor, the headcrabs are impossible to kill, the game is incredibly hard to play because of all of its small bugs compounding into one big pain. The list goes on.
And on.
I think that it's finally time that we switched to the New ZS and modified it so that it played like the old version.
The core gameplay would be fixed because of all of the bugfixes that would be addressed. There are too many to list. We would still end up with the same relative gamemode, and those who want those changes would be able to get them as well.
I envision an option during spawn loadout that lets you pick "classic mode" which means you earn weapons through kills instead of points, regen ammo instead of buying, and lose all use of equipment.
This is up for debate.
Please, leave your opinions here. This isn't an argument thread, but I would like discussion.

BUT DEACON, YOU'RE RUINING OUR PRECIOUS NOSTALGIA, AND TEARING APART THE HORRIBLY BROKEN GAMEMODE THAT WE LOVE.
In all seriousness, the new ZS is fantastic for almost everything it's doing backend. There's so much shit that optimizes the gamemode in contrast to our version that it just makes ours laughable.
Even if you don't like how the gameplay style has changed, you should at least be able to appreciate the fact that the server doesn't lag balls anytime it hits over 28 players.

I've played on a server who had new Zs with the kill system and ammo regeneration. By far it was the best Zs I have ever played. So if it's possible to implement this kind of kill system on the new Zs without extreme coding skills, then it would be a nice update for our Zs.

If the new zs has a new muting system ingame, I think this is a good idea.

Kurtis basicaly did the thing you mentioned although some of the new shitty features remain.
I played on his server and i can say it was badass as shit as Prox said since he played with me and Alkaline there.
I think it would be a major improvement for the ZS server so i fully support this idea

I totally agree with both of you and I like his version of the new ZS. (Kurtis basically did what OP said about having the New ZS with only kill rewards and a beginning selection loadout).
Instead of working from scratch with the New ZS, Kurtis could affiliate his server/zs code with rNd or something of the like. But that is all up to him and he should talk to Coolz about that, and that's all an option aside from coding out our own version.

Sticking with Old ZS is one of the primary reasons why I gave up on the zombie survival server.
Not just old ZS refreshed with a new point system, but actually, the real new ZS.
-
I think that everyone who totally refused letting go the old zs is alredy gone.
I'm ok with switching to the new zs
Altough, I would love to play one more time the old zs before it gets shut down.

I still have a lot to do to this version before I would call it fixed.
Think of it as a sweet spot in between.
However, I have a lot of projects right now and I can't give eta's but your opinions are noted.

While true, I think that switching to the new would eliminate the need for a lot of that work by giving us a relatively stable base to work from. Of course modifying it to our liking would take time, but I feel that it would be a better product in the end working with that stable base.

I second this.
